Arsenal’s Fabregas Set To Miss Out On Villa Dream?

If there’s one player who’s added a few quid to his value already in Euro 2008, it has to be David Villa after Spain’s 4-1 win against Russia. He was head and shoulders above Torres, bagged a hat-trick and subsequently stands as hot favourite to take the Golden Boot home from the tournament.

Surprisingly, Villa is up for sale this summer, with Valencia in dire financial straits and although Chelsea, Real Madrid and Barcelona had all been linked to a £25million move for the Spaniard, according to his agent Barca and Real have already put bids of £28million on the table. But whilst I’m sure Roman can stretch to that if he really wants to, I’d be less convinced that another interested party will be getting what he wants at the end of the Euros.

Arsenal’s Cesc Fabregas, who reckons Villa could do even better than team-mate Fernando Torres in the Premier League, wants to see the striker at the Emirates. Fabregas says “He is an amazing player, just tremendous. He has mobility, he scores goals and is brave. He can do well on the shoulder of defenders getting in behind, or just in front of them when the ball is played to his feet. He would do amazing in the English League. I would love to have him at Arsenal.”

Now whilst Villa is already rumoured to have suggested earlier this year that if he came to the Premier League, Arsenal’s style of football would attract him, you’d have to assume Arsenal’s wage structure wouldn’t even accommodate Villa’s big toe. So whilst Cesc continues to drool “I would love to have him in my team because you can see the difference he makes,” in the hope that Wenger’s listening, it’s highly unlikely his wishes will be coming true any time soon.

  1. You lot are too obsessed with The Arsenal

  2. Well, if Ade goes to Milan for £30 million, Villa going to theb Arse wouldn’t be too far fetched an idea.

  3. Annoyingly, he has signed a pre-contract agreement with Arsenal and will join them after the Euros…quite worrying really!

  4. Ur a dickhead!!!!!
U scum should really be playing championship football u are lucky ur russain sugar daddy saved ur skin mate administration was calling you dont quote what cesc said and make out where some mickey mouse team u lot are a bunch of mickey mouse muppets who are run by Peter Kenyon who is the tit of all tits “ohh arsenal dont have enough money to compete for Villa” cheek coming from a club who bought there way to sucess and are still trying to buy what they cant get sorry will not get lol.

  5. Chelsea really are one of those spoilt kids whose parents buy them all the new toys only for them to turn into spoilt, screaming little brats shunned in the playground apart from the few friends they can buy with sweets. We at Arsenal may have to make do with playing with cheap foreign toys from our Dad’s business trips abroad but we are happy and our playtime is so much more imaginative than those Chelsea children, who insist on only playing British Bulldogs….

  6. Aresnal would not pay him enough!

  7. well let’s see if chelski get him,i doubt he’ll go to you after what happend to shevshenko.
so the answer is if he doesnt end up in the premiership with arsenal,he’ll stay in spain with real or barca.

  8. Correct me if I’m wrong, but didnt Arse Wanker have 70m to spend in the transfer window in January?……If thats true he’ll have a hell of alot more this summer, but in reality I cant see them paying 30m for anyone unless theres a major shake-up in their wage structure. I believe thats why Flamini left as he was wanting more money and Arsenal werent willing to haggle with him.

He’ll continue to buy the odd sort of well known player hoping to turn him into the next superstar which he seems to have a nack of, but if Arsenal are to bridge the slight gap between them and Chelsea and Man.U then they’ll have to get some big names with experience in to mix it up with their youngsters.

  9. I didnt see much of a gap between Arsenal and Manure & The Blues anyway. Lets be honest, when they played Manure they hammered them in all but score line home and away and they played the Blues off the pitch home and away but for a couple of well timed Drog strikes. Where they have a gap in my opinion is squad depth which means having a some better quality coming from the bench but not necessarily having any better 1st team players. They were streets ahead until Feb March and basically threw the league away for Manure to take…..

  10. Arsene Wenger should pls breake the bank to have this Villa. the rule should not be cast in iron and steel. Those who put a ceiling on how much to spend on a player shld pls change it. Imagine the way other clubs are buying tested players! Arsenal should not be ‘incubator’ where small boys are turned to big boys only for other clubs to come and buy them over.
Pls we need this guy regardless of how much is placed on him

  11. You chelsea fans make me laugh bridge the gap dont worry that gap will soon be bridged, for better terms because our club do not spend silly money on players they did not actually want but just bought them to stop other clubs getting them i.e SWP, Sidwell, Anelka and many more you think you got the right to boost about wage structures urs is a mess of the biggest scale to the point that average players are happy to sit and earn a hell of alot for doing nothing you are the real reason the england team are failing because the likes of sidwell and swp Bridge dont want to go to a team that are going to push there ambition they are happy to be average to poor sitting on the chelsea bench picking up there over the top pay slips.

  12. Unfortunately, AFC does not have the money to compete with the big clubs. It has to contend with relative unknown players who Wenger tries to mould them into great players. Sometimes it works and sometimes it does not. As Aesthetic relic says AFC needs to spend big on quality players to have some sort of chance to win trophies and to bridge a gap with the likes of Chelsea and Man U. Somehow i have a feeling that Wenger will have difficulty signing players. Even Nasri has other options as A Madrid have entered the scene.

  13. Arsenal are about football
    Chelsea are about money

Thats why Chelsea are boring to watch and Arsenal are interesting to watch.

  14. Hopeles, what do u mean we need to buy big players….what if they dont perform…I would rather spend my money a young player who will do a good job for me.Last season the reason why we did not win the premiership was because of injuries to eduardo, van and rosicky……if it had not been that, we would have won……ade tried his best.Another reason was the defence, i belive we need a quality defender, sendoros is another muppet.

  15. This whole thing is making me crazy.can someone tell what is wrong with asene? How can a good manager be comfortable in breeding talents and loosing them to other managers or teams?we know u are an ECONOMIST but pls give us some break.pls secure some big signatures this summer.BIG CLUB BIG NAMES.

  16. For 3 years now i’ve heard about this “Arsenal Youngsters” rubbish! They are 3 years older and 3 years more experienced now and last season “Arsenal’s Youngsters” were only 4 points behind the Champions…
The only reason for the “slight gap” can be spelled in two words: Eduardo’s injury!
Without that there wouldn’t have been a 4 point gap!
Well, maybe Arsenal would have been 4 points clear of United though…
The hunger in this team will be even better next season…
The experience in the team will be better next season…
The Quality will be better next season….
And finally, Wenger will find replacements for those that do leave…
    I’m NOT worried AT ALL!!!!

  17. Adebayor is going nowhere. Thus we have Adebayor, Persie (who will be god this year if he stays fit), Walcott (who is showing that he will be a superstar), Dudu (who can score many goals for us), Bentder (who is going to be better this year because he has more experience now) and Vela. We are quality up front.

  18. Gooner4Life, Fin thanks for your great comments. I hate chelsea, they should be exposed for what they are. A team who bought there way to success. Chelsea fans should be ashamed.

  19. Chelski money men…..blah blah blah……Change the bloody record and try to come up with another angle insult us…lol.

  20. Aesthetic Relic, there is no other angle to insult you as Chelski are one dimentional and only kept afloat by one sugar daddy with a cheque book, but i will have a go for you. Chelski have a crap fan base, cant even sell out all their home games in a stadium as small as the Bridge, had less fans at an FA Cup semi final with blackburn than Arsenal had at home for an FA Youth cup match against Manure’s youth team, Chelski make a vast loss every single year, have crap income and turnover. Arsenal dwarf Chelsea in everything and are a much bigger club, check your history, oh sorry i forgot you dont have any!!

  21. I thought Chelski fans were going to the Bridge dressed up as blue seats until i realised they have no fans at the ground…..Tickets given away every day on Talk Sport for sod all…….Still no one turns up haha, wonder why…..

  22. this is typical of arsenal. a quality striker in our range and wenger and the board pussy out because of their damn wage structure. wenger, you should be wondering just how secure your job is with the fans if you don’t spend 30 million on villa.

  23. They don’t show up because no one wants to wath there boring 1-0 football. While Roman dreams about playing attractive football.

  24. arsene wenger shuld just buy villa and if adebayor goes den deres no question he will buy villa wenger plz buy him so chelsea fans can shtu da fuk up

  25. Stefan Haynes – Its nice to see you have a keen eye on what goes on at Chelsea….yet its us who are getting called the obsessive ones.

At least some Arsenal fans are in the real world and realise that the pay structure at your club needs restructured with the ever increasing wages and players going where the money is.

Tell me something I dont know about our debt problems, and as for our history…..I know I said to change the record, but again, its nothing new.

Rosickisking – Attractive football may be the way RA wants us to go, but dont forget, think back a few years to those boring boring Arsenal days of the 1-0 wins…..pot/kettle.

  26. Gooner4Life – I didnt say Arsenal don’t have enough money for Villa, I simply implied they don’t spend it.
Stefan Haynes – Arsenal didn’t choose to throw their lead away – they didn’t have enough BIG experienced players to carry the less experienced through – which is usually my point about their wage structure/transfer policy.
