Lampard Trying Another Way Out Of Chelsea?

Just when I thought I was all written out as far as Frank Lampard is concerned, we get another little gem in the press.

Having used up the old ‘trying his luck abroad’ chestnut (but only if he couldn’t see his career out at Chelsea you understand), Lampard moved on to how unfair the club were being in terms of a contract. We all know the details by now, so much so we can recite them in our sleep - £140,000 for 4 years. However, with only the likes of Sepp Blatter able to comprehend how a deal worth £29million is nothing short of slave labour and only the most blindly loyal (you’ll need to look that one up Frank) of supporters suggesting he should be paid £150,000 a week until he’s shuffling out in his slippers,  Lampard and his agent look to be trying a different tact.

With the club allegedly threatening to make him see out the remaining year of the contract I can only assume he signed willingly, we’re now being told the Inter-midfielder-in-waiting is worried this could put him in the uncomfortable position of being booed. Not that this would be an unfamiliar experience of course, in view of the fact England supporters have taken to using this as the very same method with which to show their appreciation of The Loyal One. Although by all accounts, Frank would prefer this was one particular hymn sheet the Stamford Bridge crowd elected not to sing from.

Still, we’re told this is just another of the many excuses reasons Lampard simply can’t stay at Chelsea no matter how much he wants to. So you see, it’s actually the supporters’ fault now. In fact, so worried is he about a backlash from those who have shown nothing but devotion during his time at the club that Lampard hasn’t put in a transfer request (yet) but just in case he does, he’d like us to bear in mind his performances during those seven selfless years. Pleading the case for the ‘man of the people’, a source close to the player (presumably close enough to receive an agent’s fee) says “Frank has had seven wonderful years at the club and does not want to sour relations with Chelsea fans.

“But he fears if he is forced to remain at the club he is going to be given a hard time by some supporters because of the breakdown in talks. What Chelsea fans have to understand, is the club has refused to offer him the five-year deal he wants, and he has always said that if he could not finish his playing career at Chelsea he would like to try his luck abroad.”

Unfortunately for Frank though, with a pre-contract agreement with Inter already rumoured to be being drawn up ready for January, the ‘source’ blows it at the end by confirming what most of us already knew:

“Hooking up with Jose Mourinho again is too good an opportunity for him to resist.”

Nice try Frank!

  1. 1 - 2 - 3 …….BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

At the start of all this crap I was one of those who defended Lampard. But……..

As more and more has been brought into the open my defence of him started to lessen. I cant see why he couldnt have taken the 4 year deal on offer and negotiated an extension if he deserved it.

As much as he’s done for Chelsea, this whole drama has put a dampner on his time here. It could have been handled better, but playing the victim card when you’ve more cars than days of the week and live in a multi million pound pad is taking the piss.

Inters offering him less money than Chelsea for the same length of contract aint they ?

    If so……..commitment my arse

  2. Lampard is a self seeking, spoilt, twat. No one forced him to sign his obscenely well paid, present contract. Yes, Chelsea must force Lampard to see out the rest of his contract, so as to set an example to other players with similar motivations and this would send a message to that idiot Blatter. If Lampard sulks his way through the the first part of the new football season and doesn’t perform, consign him to the reserves for the rest of the season. Now I know why West Ham fans Boo him.

  3. Get real.
If players join you for money, however much you pay them, they’ll leave you for money.
Which bit of Chelsea’s mercenary culture don’t you idiots get?Just live with the shit you have found yourself supporting.or set up a Real Chelsea club, with a return to being real supporters. If you cant see it you re no better than the Russian tart that owns you and all his nasty hanger ons from Russia , Israel and Manchester.

  4. I hope he stays and gets booed from August to December and then signs on a Bos free in Jan , gets booed for another 5 months. Or maybe The Russian tart will be forced to let him go early for a nominal sum. The Special One will have got a special deal! By then Scolari will have long discovered that Deco cant cut it in Premier League.
Ditto all of above with Drogba.
Face it, Abo and Kenyon will pay anything to stop the Special One getting them and , in truth, that obsession will cost Chelsea a lot more and do more to help The Special One with his fun game of screwing you guys up again. He must be laughing his head off. And then, if he still wants them, he ‘ll get them for next to nothing. Carvalho, Cole and Cech too. As he said, they re all queuing outside his door to rejoin him.

  5. He’s played for Chelsea for 7 years, and now he’s disloyal?

    You’re not a fan. You’re a Sun-reading knee-jerk tossbag.

  6. alan, I’m glad to hear you have everything figured out.

Your post is laced with jealousy…go back to your own team’s blog and stop posting unintelligent babble.

  7. Rob - Lampard’s been pretty well paid during them 7 years, both in terms of money and career development. Highlighting the fact that one of our players isnt the saint he makes himself out to be isnt a question of being a lesser supporter, its about being honest and accepting that’s how it is.

  8. Spektral - don’t worry about alan, he’s a closet blue :D
