Deco’s Impact Recognised

Deco has been named Barclays Player of the Month for August.
Chelsea’s £8million summer signing from Barcelona has made an impressive start, appearing to settle comfortably into both Chelsea and the Premier League and has so far managed two goals and two assists.
Deco topped off an immense debut performance with a stunning goal from around 25 yards out, to seal a 4-0 win against Pompey. He followed that up with a sublime free-kick against Wigan.
Of our new playmaker, Chelsea captain, John Terry says “Deco has everything. He makes things look easy and he’s a class act. We love having him at Chelsea. He’s made for us.”
And by all accounts, Deco has certainly taken a keen interest in Chelsea as well, not only concerning himself with what happens on the pitch but also reported to be keen to learn everything he can about the club’s history (a very brief lesson as some will no doubt point out), the trophies, the area, the team and the players.
One thing’s looked apparent since his arrival though and that is the way in which he seems to have woken up Chelsea’s attacking threat from midfield. His first game for us had both Chelsea and the opposition sitting up to take notice of the player who’s best days, many said, were behind him.
But August saw him answer his critics in the best way possible and his award is testament to that.
