Is Carragher Telling Us This Is Liverpool’s Year?

I know, I know, we’ve heard it all before – for 18 years in fact – but this year, could really be their year – according to Jamie Carragher anyway.
Liverpool have gone 18 years without a title, whilst United are just one title away from equalising the 18 title tally Merseysiders have crowed about throughout that period of time. The fact that Liverpool haven’t mounted a decent challenge for years and Rafa’s side hadn’t even managed a victory over United in the Premier League before today seems to be a distant memory as Jamie Carragher ‘issued a warning to title contenders’ on the basis of a 2-1 victory over the current Champions League and Premier League champions.
Certainly they’ve had a decent enough start to the season although being top of the table at this point in the season wouldn’t get anyone else quite as excited as it seems to have got Carragher, with the stand-in captain saying “It’s a great result for us. Not just for the three points, but for the belief and confidence it will give us. We’ve just beaten the best side in Europe and a team we have a lot of respect for. It should do wonders for our confidence.”
Well, it certainly seems to have done something for Carragher’s confidence, with him adding “For too long we’ve been off the pace in the league and it’s been all about Man United and Chelsea. Now we’ve gone to the top of the league and put a bit of breathing space between ourselves and United.”
Is it just me, or is the Liverpool man getting just a little carried away here? It was a good result, but it was just one good result against a top side. Shouldn’t Carragher wait for a little more consistency before spraining his wrist?
Or is it really that exciting being top of the table for a couple of hours?

Chelsea News 24/7

Bit like hearing your lot say its gonna be your year in the Champions League….
Ever won it?
When did you last win the champions league?Oh thats right, never.
When did you win the league before having hundreds of millions spent on your team? Once again, never.
You can’t even dominate anyhthing now even though you’ve spent more than anyone in Europe since Abramovich took over.
I’ll listen to you when you’ve won 17 titles and 5 European cups, although I don’t expect that to ever happen because when Abramovich leaves or dies your club will be screwed.
is it really that exciting being top of the table for a couple of hours? who chelsea???
stop talking about Liverpool ….. then go & count your european cups
I really don’t see where Carra is stating that it’s going to be our year. All he says is that the result will give Liverpool a massive confidence boost as we have just got past a psychological barrier, and that there is a bit of space between us and utd now (which there is).
I just hope that we can now up our performances like today’s standard and go on a winning run.
p.s. 5-0
every year i hear chelski say were going to win everything.how many trophies then?yes utd are 1 away how long before you can say same?
2.1 come on the reds
Mate, liverpool outplayed man u today, ok, after the forst 20min i thought oh here goes.. another thumping, but riera and co totally stood up an were counted, now am not gonna say were gonna win the league however, we are better than last season and if we can play like that without gerrard an torres then bring the rest of them on!! including chelsea…
All Carra is saying is that this result and performance is a step in the right direction. Its fair to say that LFC have been unfortunate against the mancs in the last 2 premiership games at anfield where we’ve played better than them and been completely mugged at the death. A lot of that has come down to our low confidence and self-belief against the other top 3 clubs. This should go some way to starting to reverse that.
Ok, most reds fans are pretty buoyant, but quite rightly so cos not only did we beat utd in the league for the first time in way too long, but we totally deserved to.
I also think that the vast majority of fans – and Carra, too – won’t be getting too carried away privately. Yep, we’re now 6 points ahead of utd with only 3 or 4 games played, but we have the arse on our heels and we are still behind chelsinho – albeit on only on GD.
Wot LFC have to do now is ‘join up’ our traditional pretty good start and very strong finish with a consistent points haul through the winter months (combine this with taking more points off the other top 3) – THEN, and only then, will we be truly challenging come May.
In Rafa we trust…..

Why is it every time Liverpool win there are links on Newsnow – Liverpool to Chelsea sites? You guys write so much about us that there are more links than on your own page! Is your team so boring you have to look elsewhere for enjoyment or is it just a ploy to irritate us?
Just concentrate on yourselves PLEASE.
Well the person that wrote this article has probably only been a supporter for four years, since the time of roman. These people have very little knowledge of football, needless to say they don’t comprehend what they read.
Pay little attetion to this dimwit you reds.

I think we played really well and I’m really surprised Chelsea write about it?!?! Oh, yeah, I forgot about that ancient rivalry between LFC and Chelsea and the even longer one with that other team, you know, the classics in the 80′s, the ups and downs of the 90′s and the rivalry for trophies throughout…
Blue is the colour – TheChelseaBlog.org is an honest insight to the World of Chelsea FC. Not always pretty, sometimes rather cynical, but always realistic.
Come again?
Corey – the person who wrote this article was probably supporting Chelsea before you were even an itch in your dad’s boxers tbh.
3ruce – would you say that ‘rivals’ articles, who I quote, say “For too long we’ve been off the pace in the league and it’s been all about Man United and CHELSEA. Now we’ve gone to the top of the league”, don’t have anything to do with us?
It sure is easy to piss off Liverpool supporters. Sounds like there is a lot of jealousy out there…
phil – The argument about having millions of dollars is such a tired argument. Can’t you try something new as it’s obvious that money doesn’t can’t buy trophies? Can you try something more original?
stonyk – When a Liverpool player mentions Chelsea, then it becomes relevant.
