Arsenal And Chelsea To Battle For ‘Wonderkid’?

According to recent reports, Chelsea are ready to battle it out with Arsenal for a 14-year-old Spanish kid nicknamed the ‘new Ronaldinho’.
Apparently, Chelsea director of youth development Frank Arnesen has been watching Gerard Deulofeu for a while, although Wenger, who we know has a knack of luring youngsters to Arsenal, has had his eye on the schoolboy for some time as well.
Arsenal managed to tempt Cesc Fabregas away from Barcelona in 2003 and a year later, it was Gerard Pique’s turn to leave the Spanish club, signing his first contract with Manchester United instead.
Deulofeu, who’s performance in an international youth tournament attracted the attention of Chelsea and Arsenal, does not have a professional agent yet. In fact, despite being on Barca’s books, he hasn’t signed trainee forms. However, with the Spanish club keen to hang on to the newest ‘wonderkid’ on the block, I’d imagine they’ll have a pen in his hand well ahead of both Arsenal and Chelsea on this one.
