Ballack Writes Liverpool Off

Michael Ballack has really grown on me over the past couple of seasons and not just because he’s become such a big player in the Chelsea midfield either.

I remember over the summer when all the nonsense was going on about Drogba’s indecision and Lampard’s contract, his subtle piss-take of events saw him go even higher up in my estimations. And as if that hadn’t cemented it for me, then his recent comments about Liverpool’s chances in the league certainly have.

You see, despite us tied at the top on points with only goal difference separating us, I think it’s fair to say that most of us are predicting Liverpool will eventually fall by the wayside in the Premier League just as they always do. And, despite them finally beating us at Stamford Bridge – halting our 4 ½ year run in the process – and sitting in the top two all season, Ballack still agrees with the majority on this one.

The Chelsea midfielder says “It’s always the big four that everyone speaks about, but it’s still about Chelsea and Man U. Arsenal are already behind, which makes it very difficult for them. Liverpool are very good at this moment, but they are always a club for the Champions League, partly because they can put all their focus on one or two matches. But when you look at results and squads over the past couple of seasons, I think us and Man U are just a little bit stronger.”

So, whilst Ballack saying what we’ve all been saying for years – that Liverpool fail in the domestic league but can manage the odd result here and there in the Champions League – won’t be welcomed on Merseyside, the fact that his refusal to accept them as challengers has no doubt resulted in indignant scousers everywhere foaming at the mouth whilst shouting ‘it’s our year’, just makes me like him all the more.

  1. Lol, yea see ya at the end of the season lads, your humble pie is in the oven.

  2. It’s funny that he’d say that on or immediately following a day when you lot couldn’t manage a win against a side lower in the table than Fulham.

Perhaps both you and Herr Ballack should be focusing more on your own results than you are on ours, or are we really worrying you so much that you feel like you must make all sorts of noise about us falling off in the hope that if you say it enough, it’ll come good?

  3. Typical graceless bollocks from a big-mouth Chelsea ‘fan’…

  4. LFC have historically been out of the running at this point in the season, in the second half is when they come on strong but have too big a gap to make up. 06-07 Season, if it had started in Nov, LFC would have won the title. 07-08 for the 08 part of the LFC were the best team in the league.

So why do you think we’ll fall by the way side now, it does not make sense, and is so biased it’s unbelieveable.

I don’t know where we’ll finish this season, the way goals have dried up at the moment we could fall behind Chelsea, but I also think that the chances we have created of the last few games if it all clicks, we’re going to put 6 or 7 past someone.

  5. Unfortunately most players talk too much, and the sad part is that the media print all their garbage.

Despite what I think about all the chit chat, probably Ballack is correct.

  6. If Ballack were as proficient as playing, as he is at running his mouth, you’d be better off…

  7. At the end of the day Chelsea spend on full backs what Liverpool spend on strikers, of course they’ll finish higher. It’s already a bit embarrassing they haven’t pulled away from them already.

  8. It really wasn’t that long ago Chelsea were nobodies, a healthy injection of cash is what has made the club what it is and nothing more…..
