Arsenal Shocker: Wenger To Spend Money?!

Arsene Wenger might not be known for splashing the cash and yet if yesterday’s rumours are to be believed, he’s willing to throw £11million Chelsea’s way.

The Arsenal manager put in a sneaky bid for Salomon Kalou during the summer and with Peter Hill-Wood prepared to release the odd moth or two from the Arsenal coffers in January, the suggestion is that Wenger will try his luck again when the transfer window opens.

Mind you, whilst you couldn’t usually imagine Chelsea selling first team players to their rivals, with Scolari not being bankrolled for new players Wenger might well be in with a chance this time

    No he didn’t.
    He inquired about him, around the same time we inquired about Adebayor, just like we inquire about hundreds of players the majority don’t result in any further talks or bids.

    he did inquire about him when the adebayor saga was on.
    but if he is still thinking of buying him, then please HELL NO ARSENE! or just hope that chelsea will do us a favour and will never sell him to us.

    he would never make us better in any way whatsoever!

    He’s actually a really good player, just a bit anonymous in amongst a team of big name beasts. Fast feet and very quick - very arsenal to be honest - and not very chelsea. I can see him linking up well with good interplay and being lousy in front of goal - your basic Arsenal player.

    If Arsenal are going to try and sign anyone from a rival, I want another person who can squeeze extra focus out of his teammates. A high tempo or giant centre mid who can give as much stick as he needs to - a fierce Emmannuel Petit type who tackles with a hammer and protects his team mates, but has guile too. Really we need steven gerrard, but who doesn’t! I wonder could Song, Denilson, Djourou, Ramsey, Randall, Merida, Coquelin or any of the others play that role? Maybe it’s Nicky Butt?!

    It would be a big mistake to sell Kalou to are rivals and I know he would flourish in their system too because he’s got tons of pace.

    And you’re right, you wouldnt have a hope of signing him. For a start he’s in contract negotiations at the minute, so clearly Chelsea don’t plan on letting a player with Mikel’s obvious potential for the future go.

    It’s hard to see where Kalou would fit into the Arsenal system. As a striker, he could potentially come in but he’d be behind Ade, VP and the soon to be returning Eduardo in the pecking order. Better than Bendtner? You decide.

    As a wide man, he’s got an atrotious final ball and wouldn’t offer anything more than Nasri or Walcott. For 11 mil he’d be nothing more than a squad player and would you ever see Wenger spending that on anyone, let alone a bit part player? I think not.
