First we had reports of Alex asking Chelsea to let him go in January, followed by the inevitable denials from inside Chelsea, then we had ‘quotes’ from the central defender suggesting Abramovich himself would sanction his transfer.

Now though, it seems as if the player will be staying at Stamford Bridge after all because according to Luiz Felipe Scolari, Alex insists no interview took place with the press and following their recent chat Scolari says “When the player comes to my room and tells me he has not said anything and I am happy here, I don’t want to go, I believe him.  He told me he is not thinking of leaving. The club have a contract with all of us and they respect the contract. The players respect the contract with the club.”

But wouldn’t that mean the press made it all up? Surely not?
