Gerrard Charged: Is He Really An Example To Everyone?

Remember this statement from Rafa last month: “He is an example to everyone”.

Ironically enough he was talking about Stevie Me. Yes, that’s rights, the very same fine, upstanding pillar of the community who’s been arrested and subsequently charged with assault and affray.

Merseyside Police have confirmed  “Merseyside Police has charged Steven Gerrard, 28 years, of Formby, Sefton, John Doran, 29, and Ian Smith, 19 years, both from Huyton, Liverpool, with assault occasioning actual bodily harm and affray following an incident at Bold Street in Southport in the early hours of Monday, December 29. The three men will be appearing at North Sefton Magistrates’ Court on January 23.”

Still, I’m sure he’s got a perfectly good defence. Maybe he accidentally poked his 34 year old victim in the eye with his halo?

Certainly, the club have already given the thug midfielder their backing, stating “Steven has been an outstanding servant to Liverpool for the last 10 years and the club will give him all the support he needs at this time.” And as for the supporters, well if they’ll forgive him a bit of flirtation with rival clubs, then the odd punch-up is hardly going to affect their adulation.

I’m sure he’s polishing his MBE and straightening his halo as we speak.

  1. Innocent until proven guilty or not as the case maybe..

  2. Ridiculous rant, the law is innocent until proven guilty. Im assuming you were in the bar when the incident happened? Your own John Terry has been up for a racial attack before so perhaps you should look closer to home before finding fault with Steven Gerrard as a role model.

  3. Bitter, very bitter.

Until he has been found guilty of anything in a court of law, I think everyone should keep their mouths shut and bitter comments to themselves.

  4. Hmmm, the pillor of the community, Chelsea AND England Captain, once stood trial for Assault on a bouncer (2002) along with Jody Morris. Stones and Glass house spring to mind!

  5. “i’m sure he’s polishing his MBE and straightening his halo as we speak”…. and making room on his shelf for a first premier league title to sit alongside every other club trophy that its possible for him to have won in his career. That champions league winners medal takes up quite a bit of room though. Maybe John Terry’ll get to pick one up some day when he joins a proper side. What a sad little oik you are Chelsea dick….

  6. he’s in good company amongst the fine upstanding players at chelsea and across the professional football community

  7. Tosser!
How do any of us know what went on?
Lets put it this way… you are sat having a drink and some tosser comes and starts on you… would you defend yourself? yes! And 3 men have been charged so it might be a case of he hit him, then another reacted and Stevie got caught up in it.
I bet it was someone like YOU!! an irritating cock who spouts off without knowing facts.

  8. Pathetic.

  9. You sad bitter bastards!

  10. He’s been a model pro for the last 10 years, always comes across as a decent person.
By coming out with those sarcastic comments when you dont know the facts, just go to show how sad and bitter you are.
Somehow I dont think you would be coming out with the same comments, if a chelsea player found themselves in the same situation.
Actually didnt Mr Terry find himself in trouble with the law a while ago, wonder what your thoughts about where at the time.
Why dont you just get a life, these articles dont do you or your club any favours.

    Have a happy New Year!

  11. Roman’s best friend - and maybe Gerrard will benefit from this too eh? He could even pick up some pace - especially when that soap hits the floor. :)

  12. Now this is how you get rivalry, stupid small minded fool, people like you put everyone to shame! we know a lot of chelski fans are ok and a bit of banta is fine but to fual things with shity things like that grow up, do you even know what happed? that will be a No, shall we all talk about your kids (if you’re capable enough) and expect to walk away………didn’t think so.

  13. Idiot, let’s wait to see if and what he’s guilty of before lambasting a player who has behaved impeccably in the past. It’ll be us with egg on our faces if we start this sort of trash before any facts are known. There’s every chance he’s going to be found not guilty. Hope I’m wrong and he’s banged up for 5 years but everything I’ve seen of Stevie Me is that he fulfills the cliche of ‘model professional’ as well as anyone in the League with the possible exception of Lamps.

  14. Sporting rivalry should be left at just that and not spill into childish, vindictive comments such as those sarcastic remarks in the article. It sadly reflects on the person writing it. Footballers are not saints and neither are most people. Gerrard has been charged but not yet proven guilty. If he is found guilty, then he deserves whatever punishment that is meted out by the law. Sports in all its form should bring people together not bring out such unwarranted prejudiced comments. It is good to support Chelsea, Liverpool or any club but it should not bring such behaviour as shown by the writer. I have supported Liverpool for 31 years and a very good friend of mine supports Chelsea. We have grudging respect for each other’s team and players plus our conversations are good humoured banter unlike the pretentious cancelling of the word “thug”. Please do NOT stoop so low as that. It’s an insult too the club you support.

  15. Couldn’t have put it better myself, mate. You can take the boy out of Liverpool, but you can’t take the Liverpool out of the boy, isn’t that right?

  16. Chelsea dick - he never seems to lack pace when he’s skinning fat frankie time after time. Maybe (just maybe) he’ll be acquitted….. like a certain John Terry was?

  17. Rob - if a player gets himself arrested, then he’s leaving himself and his supporters wide open to a bit of stick. Were you defending Barton?

As for my kids - get a grip of yourself, this is banter on a blog. Calm down.

  18. Lots of Liverpool comments here. You don’t generally get charged by the police with Actual Bodily Harm if you’re just defending yourself. I quite like Stevie G as a player - he always puts everything in to playing whether it’s for Liverpool or England but if he’s been upto no good he should face the same punishment as anyone else. Besides I’m sure within a few days all charges will be dropped and the victim will mysteriously be 10 or 20 grand richer.

  19. listen u dick, we all know what went on with Barton and he was charged a few times and he is a little nasty pice of work, but u just assumed Gerrard is guilty coz hes a scouser, well John Terry is a dirty dick cheeting on every bird hes been with and he might aswell shag Droggba coz he spends more time on his back than any slag I know but then again i have not met your mother yet so fingers crosed for Cavski D

  20. joe cole

  21. Chelsea should look at their own captain’s behaviour before slating others.

  22. Where you ever in a fight Chelsea D?
    Alternatively, did anybody annoy you?
Sounds like your small mind has worked over time which is more work than you normally have!
Did you really say that “if a player gets himself arrested, then he’s leaving himself and his supporter wide open to a bit of stick??”
Therefore, John Terry England Captain showed great example when hitting a bouncer at a nightclub to all Chelsea supporters or just Jody Morris?
By the way what it like looking up at Liverpool on top?
Same feeling when the “goal” was scored in Anfield? By the way I think it was not a goal the ball did not cross the line nor should Liverpool come back from 3 down to win the cup that was Chelsea by right.
Next thing you know they will beat Chelsea at home.
What about whom going to replace Big Phil once he goes about March?
After Dopey Drogba, Fat Frank and any other leaves to play for Special K?

  23. Plus i think if he has hit this Man U fan of a DJ then he is the perfect role model, we could all learn a few things of stevie G by punching a few Man U fans

  24. TOMC AKA JUDGE DREAD?

  25. This tripe appearing on a Chelsea website was about as predictable as day following night. Any excuse to wheel out something derogatory will always be taken by the mindless masses with little to do. I’m all for wicked banter based on poor performance or fans sharing their deluded views on the merits of their clubs versus others but when your own captain is far more of a thug, based on previous transgressions both on and off the field, it seems to be a case of crass short-sightedness or immense stupidity…take your pick…it’s either one or both. Has anybody got anything intelligent to say?

  26. To TomC it is quite conceivable that you can be charged with something you haven’t done, as I have previously (and convicted) due to complete crap from so called witnesses!!!!

Also I have seen a few things on chelsea sites in the last 24 hours ranting about this, but they do seem to have forgotten the John Terry incident!! Even their own groundsmen can’t control themselves and that’s when they’re working at stamford bridge!!!!!!!!!!

  27. Good piece this. I’m not a lfc fan but gerrard and lfc are a disgrace………Always the same. Cant trust them, then they all stick together when they cause trouble. Typical.
I hope gerrard is punished and given a custodial sentence if found guilty. Gerrard is another example of the horrible antics of the fans of lfc over the years. He comes across as a respectful human being but he has shown the world his other side……..he cheats on the pitch as well……..conning refs………….LFC-cheats

  28. No Liverpool fan gives a crap about Chelsea yet they do everything they can to get a rise out of us. LOL, small time.
