Carvalho Up For The Cup

Ricardo Carvalho is finally back from injury – albeit not yet fit, with him acknowledging “Of course I am not fit yet, I am not 100%, I have to play more games.”

However, with Southend to face in the FA Cup on Saturday, Carvalho’s in no doubt what that can mean, stating “The FA Cup is different.  It is a big day for Southend and you have to prove you are better, you have to run as hard as they do and you have to play with the ball because you have more quality.  Sometimes teams run a little bit more than us, they run like crazy and it is difficult – but when our quality comes through and you prove you are better, normally it is 1, 2, 3-0.”

And when it comes to the trophy itself, it definitely sounds as if Carvalho fancies getting the chance to be involved in a final this time round.  Having missed out against United, the Chelsea defender says “It is a big celebration when you’ve got the trophy.  I was there (at Wembley). Okay I was injured at that time but I was watching the game and the atmosphere was fantastic and after we got the trophy, I went in the dressing room and the feeling was unbelievable.”

Let’s hope he gets the opportunity eh?

  1. Rici is a very very important player for us. Specially with all the speculations surrounding Alex (and his lack of form in recent matches), Rici getting fit is a huge boost. I do feel that with Alex not performing to his best, we should develop the under 21 star Mancinne and offload Alex in summer.
