Mancienne Return A Good Move?

So, Michael Mancienne is back at Chelsea and straight in the squad for today’s game against Southend.

Not that much of a surprise with both JT and Carvalho’s fitness this season, not to mention continued rumours of a potential move for Alex this month, but no doubt a little disappointing for Wolves, who’d hoped to hold onto the 20 year old defender for as long as possible.

Mancienne got himself a call up to the senior England squad in November and personally, I think it’s a great move bringing him back to Stamford Bridge. Let’s just hope he gets some decent opportunities eh?

  1. It’s about time Chelsea gave youth a chance. The fans want players they can relate to. Players who come up through the ranks like JT.

  2. I am pleased to see Mancienne back and would suggest it probably means that Alex, Ivanovic or even Ricky may be leaving in the January transfer market or in the summer.

I see Michael as more of a Ricky/Ivanovic type of player although all the rumours are about Alex going. It is interesting that Jeffrey Bruma is also being discussed as a first team player who is more of an JT/Alex type CB. Maybe the credit crunch will mean that we start to see more of the youngsters being given a chance.

I am sorry to see Wayne leaving but it is probably best for all parties, especially Wayne who must be frustrated with the limited amount of chances he gets. He has though been a great servant to the club and I will always remember him for his Arsenal goal and the Pompey goal celebration.
