Who Is Ray Wilkins Trying To Kid?

After yet another pretty dire result for us yesterday, Chelsea’s assistant coach Ray Wilkins was forced to play peacekeeper in the post-match with chants of “you don’t know what you’re doing” aimed at Scolari before his team were booed off the pitch.

An indignant Wilkins stated “I think it is a minority that would be chanting it. That would kick it off and then people would get on the back of that. That is their prerogative because they pay their money. People do pay a lot of money to watch football and if they want to boo then by all means come and boo.  But to say someone does not know what he is doing when he has achieved what he has in the game, is a tad out of order.  It is never very pleasant whatever ground you are at. He clearly does know what he is doing. He has been in the game a hell of a long time and won a lot of trophies as well. So, from that aspect it is quite disappointing.  The substitutions are always to try and improve things on the pitch, so that is why we did it.”

Wilkins even tried to kid the press that the chanting would have gone straight over the Chelsea boss’ head anyway, suggesting “When crowds are chanting I don’t think managers from foreign countries understand what is being said.  He would not have understood that. I certainly won’t tell him because it is unnecessary. I don’t think it should be heard around our stadium.”

And whilst the rest of us are realistic enough to know it’s all over, Wilkins claims “Every game is vitally important for us now. Hopefully we will turn the corner”, - and collide head on with the uefa cup maybe? Not according to Ray no, because he insists “You cannot give up on the title when you see the talent that we’ve got within the club.  We will keep plugging away until it is mathematically impossible to catch anybody.  It is going to be difficult to catch Manchester United but we will try. They have a game in hand on us and are still a good few points in front, so it is going to be tough for everybody to catch them. But we are going to give it a damn good go.  Second at any time is not good enough for Chelsea. We strive to be number one but second is never good enough for a club as big as ours.”

So if second isn’t good enough, what about fourth? Because that is, after all, where we now sit after yesterday’s game.

Well, apparently fourth must be ok, because he assures us “There is no real emergency. We are naturally disappointed we have not picked up three points. We’ve huffed and puffed and created a lot of chances but not been able to put the ball into the back of the net.”

Which brings us back to our position in the League. You were saying Ray…..?

  1. Care free wherever we may be?? Highly ironic I think as yet again Chelsea’s fans have shown thier true colours and blue is def not one of them! Our problem is not defence. We still concerd very few goals. Our real problem lies in that fact that goin foward (apart from FL) we have very little to pack a sgnifigant punch. JOM and MB give us very little. SK is a a CF mch like Carlton Cole was FM also has had little or no impact. Anelka could really be a player but lately has seemed out of sorts. Drogba is the same unlimited talent restricted by huffs and tantrums (supposedly with scolari?) joe cole out. Quaresma……now here’s a player that could truly benefit us. We must push are wingers as wide as possible and perfect crossing techniques. Scolari has being concentrating too much on tippy tappy tentantive football we need to start allowing teams to come at us and hitting them with a lethal counter! Here’s my starting 11.
    Cech
    JB. RC. JT. AC
    ME

    DECO.

    FL

    CQ. SK/MS/Katua

    DD/NA

  2. Anyone thought the unthinkable - Yes the Manager should take the blame because the Team isn’t performing. So where to start?

Who week in week out has been the most committed player to Chelsea’s cause? Frank Lampard - should he not be given the chance to lead from the front as Captain?

John Terry has not had one of his most effective seasons to date. He still fights for every ball - but Chelsea has lost its edge, lost its togetherness, lost its collective Team Spirit and its invincibility.

In fact we’re so bad at the moment even the minor clubs no longer fear us and the major clubs beat us!

There is a sense that Chelsea are pushovers waiting to be humiliated.

Our Manager looks like a man out of his depth , not in command, but rather at the mercy of events. He seems powerless, as Chelsea appear rudderless. The team play like a missile powerful at the rear, packed with missfiring rockets boosters in the middle and upfront a guidance system off target.

Frank Lampard gives his all, but by and large he is the only one to consistantly do so. Give John Terry a rest as Captain and see how we perform under Frank. It can’t be any worse.

  3. Chelsea Deluded
One thing that I have to LOL at is your predictions of late! Mystic Meg you are NOT!
Maybe I should take up that Mystic Meg role myself as I have been warning you for some time about your team falling apart and becoming Leeds!
Now you are below Aston Villa and they are playing well with a small panel of players with a good manager with an owner that seem to be the type to allow his manager do his job and help him.
A question for you as Chelsea seem to be pinning their hopes on Quaresma, if he was that good in Italy a place where they play slower football and Maureen did not like him will he save your season?
Would Maureen really send him to help you when you would not sell him Dopey Drogba?

As for taking drugs for the rest of the season you could be on them for life time until Chelsea get back to the level they bought before especially now that Man City can and have out bid you!!
Also the best way to solve problems is not drugs! As the 11 dopes you played against Hull proved that!!!

  4. I’m afraid the problems with our club are a little more deep rooted than issues on the pitch. RA has closed his purse strings. Our instant success, as much as I hate to say it, was based on the fact he opened his purse in the first place.
The first problems arose when he didn’t allow Jose M to strengthen in the January window a couple of years ago. We had major defensive problems and did nothing about it.
Since then, through the Grant era and the beginning of this season we have been relying on the steel instilled by JM to get results. That steel has slowly been lost, worn away by the fact he simply isn’t there and now we have an aging rudderless squad, trying to play a new system, with a subs bench full of average players and no purse to change it.
Scolari clearly has a succesful history in the game and in two or three years time maybe we’ll be competing at the top again. But it is clear we wont get instant success again. Not unless RA flashes his cash once more.

Finally, I don’t think we should have parted company with Jose Mourinho. He epitomised success. We should have given him the backing he deserved. Ask any fan in the country who they would like to manage their team should the position become available and 99% of them will say Jose Mourinho.

Ditch your medling Abramovich, forget your image Kenyon! Bring back Jose and lets get this club back on the road to success.
