Petr Cech: Life After Scolari

There’s been a bit of back-stabbing in the weeks since Scolari’s departure, most notably around certain players’ alleged involvement in the Brazilian being offered his P45 prematurely.
Ok, so the story was in The Sun but anyway, the suggestion was that Scolari had told a ‘close friend’ he held Didier Drogba, Michael Ballack and Petr Cech responsible for his sacking. Petr Cech totally denies that claim though, stating “We stayed with him and tried to help him. We helped both with our attitude and our performances on the pitch but, in the end, he came out with such comments. I will say only one thing: every time something similar to this happens, there are always a lot of rumours and speculations. I was rather surprised that this came out from the coach, because mostly managers stay together with their team.”
Not that the Chelsea keeper seems all that bothered now that Hiddink has come in and turned things around anyway. Cech goes on “I do not worry about it now. I just try to focus on my current performances to finish the season as well as we can. You can see the work we have done since the change of managers. Our team performance is back and I still believe we will finish higher than Liverpool.”
Wasn’t it their year though?
