Will Anelka Injury Benefit Gerrard?

We started the season with an injured striker so I guess its par for the course we would be finishing the season in much the same way – and that’s the way it looks as if it’s set to go, with the news that Nicolas Anelka could be set to miss at least the next three weeks of the season.

The Frenchman has been playing with a bruised toe recently and has now pulled out of the France squad for their World-Cup games against Lithuania. 

The Chelsea striker, on 15 goals looked all set to end the season as the Premier League’s top scorer, however, with both Ronaldo (13 goals) and Stevie Me (13 goals) not far behind him, he could lose out on that prize if it takes him too long to recover. God forbid Gerrard should catch him up, we’d never hear the bloody last of it!

    Never hear the end of it Mark? Top goalscorer might be something to pad out Chelsea’s history books, ours doesn’t have room to make such a big deal out of it.
