Hiddink Writes Off Liverpool Champions League Chance

Guus Hiddink doesn’t seem to have quite as much faith in Liverpool this season as their supporters quite obviously do. Because, whilst they seem intent on talking up their chances of both catching United up in the Premier League, and walking all over us in the Champions League semis, Hiddink has just about written the second of those off.
The Dutchman is pretty realistic about our chances in the league after we failed to capitalise on United’s defeat to Fulham having dropped 3 points ourselves against Spurs, stating “My heart is full of bitterness and sorrow,’ he said of defeat to Spurs. Chelsea missed a great chance to catch up with Manchester United. Neither Liverpool nor Chelsea can now make the slightest mistake. Liverpool can take advantage and we, unfortunately, can’t.”
However, he obviously thinks Liverpool’s unusual distraction in the league this season, coupled with our focus now being almost entirely on the Champions League, could work in our favour. And with him reiterating the plan for him to leave Chelsea at the end of the season, he makes it clear he intends to do it on a high, stating “It’s true that many people have urged me to stay on at Chelsea. I’m tired of repeating the same thing over and over. But the situation has not changed; I will leave Chelsea in May. I intend that this is very late in the month – after the match in Rome.”
Sounds like a pretty good plan to me!

Chelsea News 24/7

i love it that chelsea fans have taken to making up their managers words – where does Hiddink say he has wrote off Liverpool’s chances – you guys are running scared, and you should be, you’re gonna get battered, and lets face it you’ve earned it.
Where exactly in this article is he writing of Liverpools chances???
Seems a bit silly to write off another teams chances, seeing as you will probably go and choke in the final again!
Rafa always express how he feels on the park, so Gus let’s see what happens in April and we’ll see who’s better than who shall we?
Useless mind game will get you nowhere.
numpty phear the red reaper for those that mock ala fergie will fall under the power of the red machine in full flow hiddink fool.
He doesn’t mention Liverpool at all in regards to the Champions League. Hiddinck seems like a more honourable man than Mourinho.
He’d be a fool if he said “Liverpool are awesome at the moment, they have played us off the park twice already this season. Therefore I have my holidays booked already for the end of May and I’m staying in a lovely resort in Hawaii, Rome is awful this time of year anyway”
Notice you idiots or Hiddinck never mentioned the little problem of Barcelona either??
Hid_dink what a plonker!……….champions league are you all on drugs! the only way you would beat Liverpool is if you BRIBED UEFA or a ref!!! Por job the editor was correct that Hid-dink was stressed out saying Arshavin played 4 chelsea nowI think he is mixing up again he thought chelsea where going to play Georgia!!
You tell them dude.
It’s Hiddink by the way. There is no “c” in his name.
The two league games mean absolutely nothing. What’s wrong with Hiddink showing some confidence and faith in his team?
His comment about leaving Chelsea “after the match in Rome” is an indirect way of writing off Liverpool. Apparently you aren’t bright enough to realize that, and you’re calling us idiots?
I think he`s saying what he hopes will happen lad; you`re making a big leap to ‘writing off Liverpool’
dont think theres a manager in Europe that would simply ‘write off Liverpool’ in the CL – but please keep it up.
I`ll accept also that the two league results should have no bearing on the CL but I`m sure if they`d have gone the other way you`d have been spouting about psychologcal advantage…no?
We will just have to wait and see. All I know is Chelsea’s form is poor, Liverpool’s frightening.
Hiddink cannot publicly say his team are underdogs given the money lavished on the squad by his russian boss.
But I will enjoy watching the games and hopefully the best team will win.
that’s Liverpool btw
YNWA
It seems like he is setting himself up for the same sort of fall that Jose did when he was in a similar position. 4 wins and a loss is nothing to shout about. It looks like his inexperience at club level could be his downfall.
Chelsea are dreaming. We are rubbish this year, Liverpool will do us in both legs, they look pretty good at the moment i hope we don’t get a hiding like the mancs and Real Madrid.
Nope, those games already happened. Unlike most Liverpool fans (at least most of those that comment on this blog) I don’t dwell on the past and I sure hope our players don’t. Obviously Hiddink is not truly writing them off. He’s showing confidence in his team. I know if I was in the Chelsea squad and I heard/read his comments I’d be proud and motivated to prove him right.
Anyone think Bayern has a chance against Barca? It doesn’t seem likely to me especially with Klose out.
It’s obvious by implication, talking about leaving Chelsea after the match in Rome that Hiddink is discounting Liverpool. That’s fine. The current president of Real Madrid said that “Los Galacticos” would beat LFC 3-0 at the Bernabeu and 2-1 at Anfield. Their “all-world” big-mouth Rafael van der Vaart was also quoted as saying that Liverpool were “running scared” at the prospect of having to play his team. So, tell me, boys, how did that work out for you??? Wanking twats!!!!!
Only have one thing to say: ” Bring on Manc Scums in the final”, I am not even bothered by chelsea rent boys, hehehe
ALL YOU SCOUSERS SHOULD GET OFF YOUR KEYBOARDS AND STICK TO WHAT YOU’RE BORN TO DO- BURGLARY AND THIEVING CAR STEREOS. STATS AND HISTORY, THTA’S ALL YOU POOR FOOLS HAVE. THE NEXT GAME IS ALL THAT MATTERS, AND WEHN WE BEAT YOU, AT THE BRIDGE AND anfield YOU CAN LOOK BACK ON THOSE AGMES AND SAY “SHIT, WE REALLY DIDN’T SEE THAT COMING” AS YOUR HEADS ARE UP YOUR ASS’.
I just feel Guus Hiddink is trying to get some confidence into his side after that loss vs the spurs….i’m a Liverpool fan and i really feel the game could be decided in the 1st leg itself…if Liverpool win by more than a goa at Anfield the tie will almost certainly be over…as Liverpool are the best at guarding a lead in the second leg…i see Liverpool as favourites as of this moment and i hope we go through in the end!!…YNWA
Lets face it Spektral, we’re the team you fear the most. Your midfield is lightweight. Your strikeforce is passed it. Your defence is slow.
I don’t think we need Mascherano for this tie. We pass the ball faster than your lot. We should go at you and have the tie finished by half-time.
You can’t rely on the half-wit Riise to bail you out this year.
I’m already thinking of the Barca game which, like you are probably now, not overly confident as they have proper world class players. Your lot don’t have any.
“Only have one thing to say: ” Bring on Manc Scums in the final”, I am not even bothered by chelsea rent boys, hehehe” just like you wer’nt bothered by us last year sisterfucker? lets hope the bindippers come into this tie with as mentally writing us off like their fans are
by the time chelsea is thru with liverpool, all of u(chelsea enemy) will cry and shed crocodile tears
