Ex-Chelsea Man Taking A Swipe?

If there’s one thing I’ve never liked, it’s ex-players having a pop. Ok, so Carlo Cudicini didn’t exactly slate us but he hardly praised us either.

Fair enough, we didn’t exactly cover ourselves in glory against Spurs but bearing in mind he spent ten years with us and has only been in North London five minutes, you’d think he could have been a bit more tactful wouldn’t you?

Instead the former Chelsea keeper says “Of course I was surprised by the result. I didn’t expect Tottenham to win the game, but I was more surprised by the way Chelsea played. It was a bit too slow, without much pace. Apart from the last 20 minutes or so, where of course Chelsea put us under pressure, there was nothing really special about the performance. They looked a bit tired.”

Sometimes if you haven’t got anything nice to say, it’s better to say nothing at all I reckon.

  1. Did you watch the game? carlo was clearly being polite and respectful to Chelsea. He even said, as a Spurs player, he didn’t expect Spurs to win. We were really, really poor - he just said we were slow.

  2. I agree with Carlo. We sucked and deserved to lose for our inability to put away our chances.

  3. He is as shocked as everyone else that we lost to Spuds. He’s still blue on the inside. I’d be properly annoyed if he praised Spuds, but he didn’t. :)

  4. Of course I watched the game ChelseaR, and if he’d wanted to, Carlo could have been a lot harsher. I just think ex-players, particularly when they’ve only just left, should hold onto their opinions out of respect. Just a personal thing really.

  5. If it’s better to say nothing, why did Chelsea’s official website seek Cudicini out to ask him the question, then publish his reply last week? That’s where these words came from. Look it up.

  6. Ha ha, I guess like me they were hoping he might have something nice to say. Not that that would have been easy after the Spurs game.

  7. If they didn’t like what he said they needn’t have printed it. I’m sure they speak to lots of people but don’t publish their words. They published because there was nothing bad about what he said. Don’t take offence where none exists. I mean, if you didn’t want to go out of your way to say you were offended, why publish your piece here? Or perhaps we’re both just wasting our time writing about nothing.

  8. Hey, I think Carlo was spot on and just honest - and not even brutally honest, as a matter his comments were boderline decent .. now is this a case of an ex-fan taking a pot shot ..
