Man City’s Sturridge Deal Almost Done With Chelsea?
Rumour has it Chelsea are planning to sign Man City’s Daniel Sturridge. The highly rated City striker has refused to sign a new contract at Eastlands and having tracked him for some time, reports in the press suggest Chelsea aren’t far off getting him. In fact, the suggestion is that we’re that close to signing him there’s a chance he won’t even play for City again.
Hughes will apparently ‘be stunned by the news’ that we’re trying to ‘steal’ Sturridge although considering he’s never given the 19 year old a full game at senior level it shouldn’t be the most shocking revelation he’ll ever have.
Sturridge, who’s highly sought after, is out of contract in the summer and although City would still be entitled to a pay-off because he’s under 24, some of that would have to go to Coventry City. Still, Roman Abramovich is said to be happy to stump up the cash – and a £50,000 a week starting salary on top in order to get the youngster’s signature.

Well if the stories are true he’s demanded £90K a week to stay at city – if true you can have the greedy B. He’s never been fit enough for long enough to get a decent run in the side – but fill your boots!

The 90K story was banded around the forums so it’s probably bull, but even demanding £50K a week is shocking considering he’s done nothing in the game.
to the chelsea fans reading, sturridge is a good young talent but thats just it at the moment. if he was to sign for chelsea on a 50,000 a week contract then he’s a lucky boy. he may be a great english talent but if he was a top 4 rated player then why are man city refusing to pay him that. think about it chelsea are already there an city are striving to get there if he was a top 4 player city would give him the money, although reports from my end have come in that he wants 60 to 70 grand a week an city will not be held ransom cos we are the richest club in the world! sorry about that lads.
Good prospect but, in my opinion, not world class. Having seen him play ALL his games for City I can honestly say that he’s not as good as he thinks he is. The lad still has a LOT to learn. The £90k wage is pure speculation but the FACT is that he’s demanding a wage that is much higher than Sparky thinks he’s worth. The lad has done NOTHING to justify it yet. Get your head down Danny and learn your trade before making outrageous demands.
