Chelsea Linked To The One That Got Away From Manchester United?

£25million rated Inter Milan defender Maicon might be under contract until 2011 but that hasn’t stopped him being linked elsewhere and needless to say, Chelsea come under the heading ‘elsewhere’.

The 27 year old Brazilian signed for Manchester United once upon a time but having been refused a work permit, headed to Monaco in June 2004 instead and since signing for the Nerazurri in 2006, has made 85 Serie A appearances scoring 7 goals.

Now though, according to his representative, Antonio Caliendo, the fiery but talented defender is wanted by Real Madrid, Chelsea and a couple of unnamed Premier League clubs – and needless to say, the suggestion is it’ll take big money to get him.

Caliendo says “Not only Real Madrid have asked me about Maicon.  The other team that has asked about Maicon is Chelsea and there are also three other English teams that are interested.  However, personally I think that Inter are not interested in doing business.  I think that the only way they would let him go is if there is a very large proposal.”

Would he be worth a big offer though? Take a look:

  1. He’s good, but we already have the RB position covered…we need to secure HIddink and get a wide player.

  2. Doesn’t make sense. We already have Bosingwa, who does a pretty good job. We could use the money for a winger or striker which we really need.
