Does Fergie Really Believe Chelsea Are Still A Threat This Season?
Personally, I’ve struggled to really see us in the title race for most of this season and certainly when we fucked up against Spurs, any hopes we ever had went out the window as far as I was concerned. So, any talk about us making any realistic challenge in the league this season tends to be shrugged off really.
Not so for Sir Alex Ferguson though, because the Manchester United manager reckons whoever wins the Champions League clash between us and Liverpool will end up their biggest threat.
Fergie says “I look at the league differently from a lot of people. People are screaming ‘Liverpool, Liverpool are resurgent’, but I think the winner of the Champions League tie between them and Chelsea will be the biggest threat to us. So many times it has been an emotional fixture, a tight fixture. The result will have a knock on effect.”
Again, I haven’t believed there were any real threats to United winning the title this season and whilst they’ve wavered a bit recently and given the dippers a little bit of renewed hope that yet again, this is ‘their year’, which has all been very amusing, in terms of anyone really taking the title of them, I’ve chosen not to buy into it.
So, I guess we’ll have to wait and see whether this is just kidology on Fergies part?

It’s as plain as your face that Fergie wants Chelsea to kick the crap out of Liverpool as he afraid of Liverpool winning. He knows that you would be happy being Vice European champions again and he see if Liverpool beat ye that they will push Manure all the way.
Now that we are at the business end of the season is about form and belief a thing that you lot lost about Dec once the home record went and you started to see that big Phil was smiling at the bank rather than enjoying be your manager.
Once thing that is very strange to read is about your player talking of being afraid of playing Liverpool and trying to kiss and make up before the game. Then again you do go soft in your old age don’t you!!!

I reckon Fergie knows if the dippers have got a sniff of the CL, they’d be a lot less of a threat in the PL – Rafa’s always been happy to focus on one competition in the past after all.
And as for any of our players suggesting Liverpool are difficult opponents, thats because they are. I’d rather our players were honest about how tough it’ll be than arrogant bullshit about us wiping the floor with them.

well on PL chelsea D is probably right we are not a threat to MAN U but regarding CL Fergie should think twice.Last year in CL finals we beat the crap out of them but the match ended up in penalties where anyone could win. What i was say and i will say it again FERGIE rather face Chelsea than Liverpool in the champions League and he know that Liverpool are the better team on the current form and thinks he can beat you like the 3-0 in Old Trafford this year. However, may feels that Liverpool with younger hungrier player might be able to keep it up on both fronts but if you lose then you will as you already have give up on the PL. While you still can win the PL you have given in so that the end of Chelsea for this year
In addition, with out any dippers as you call them what reason for a balance argument as THIS IS A CHELSEA site not a LIVERPOOL site? So hard to ask them question on a Chelsea site.

Moreover, it is all about the result not the how you play the game. Does it matter if you win 2-1 or 22-0 in a cup competition as long as your name is on the cup at the end of the year.
Would you not like to win the FA Cup and or the CL if you do not play against 11 men? What about score the winner in 90 min you would hand back the cup? Alternatively, win in a penalty shoot out does that not count but you can still call your selves Vice-Winners

Why would Fergie think we wouldnt focus on the FA Cup if we progress in the CL? When have Chelsea ever not taken the FA Cup seriously?
And I wasn’t talking about them spawning major games against 10 men in the last few seconds, Im talking about their performances for most of the season. Would any other side spawning results week after week really be fawned over as much by the press, or would it rightly be suggested that theyre neither convincing nor worthy title winners? Not Liverpool though, theyre already mouthing off about how Chelsea don’t stand a chance against ‘the best team in the world’. Lol, theyre not even the best team in bloody England.
