Is Benitez Confident Or Just Mad?
Ha ha, wasn’t it only the other day I was saying Rafa Benitez is always having a laugh?
I mean if he wasn’t so funny you could really hate him couldn’t you? But for me he just comes across as a bit simple really.
He just doesn’t seem to get his tactics right against us in the Champions League of late does he? Last year his whinges about referee bias and Didier Drogba diving got him nowhere and yesterday, his change of tact which saw him saying what a ‘fantastic club’ we are didn’t seem to help him much when we battered them Wednesday night either.
Still, as he was at pains to point out before this game, Rafa insists this won’t bugger up Liverpool’s season, saying “The Premier League is a different competition so hopefully this will do nothing to our season.”
And as if that isn’t deluded enough, the FSW goes on the suggest “We are not really out of the Champions League. It will be difficult but it’s football, anything can happen. We have to do well, score three goals, and we will see what happens.”
Ok, so you’ll just score 3 against us and take it from there eh Rafa? No biggie really, I mean teams have been scoring 3 against us week in week out right? The man’s lost it!

Though it hurts to get beaten by Chelsea, may I point out a loophole in your own arguement? Rafa was right, not delusinal, when he said anything’s possible in football. The reason, would you honestly in your sane state of mind have imagined Chelsea beating us 3-1. An odd goal maybe, mostly a draw, but a 3-1, after the way we were playing before this match???? I know you beat us good and proper but what do you expect Rafa to say - we surrender? and give you the match. It would be totally undermining the team & no manager would ever do that! You can’t accept it when he compliments your team, says something mad or says nothing at all! I think you misunderstood Rafa, he meant he doesn’t think it will affect our PL season, not CL season!

Roy - I think your point about how Liverpool were playing before this tie hints at one of the reasons you were battered tbh - I think your lot got a bit carried away with the confidence off the back of a league double and it bit them on the arse.
adam red - naturally as a manager its his job to remain positive although I think he could have done this whilst still maintaining some kind of grip on reality. Its a little dismissive (not to mention nuts) to nonchalantly suggest you’ll just score 3 goals against us and then take it from there, lol.

if liverpool get an early goal i think we will go on and beat chelsea 3-1. chelsea will be playing negative football next week and we have nothing to loose now. and why would benitez go out and say we are finished? im sure he didnt say the same thing when we were 3-0 down to AC milan? remember if anyone can do it its liverpoool the comeback kings!!! ynwa
ynwa - why would we play negative football in the second leg? You lot have no choice but to attack and against us I cant see you getting away with only conceding 1 goal if youre throwing everything at us to get 3.
