Arteta Warns Refs To Keep An Eye On John Terry

Before Everton’s game against Manchester United at the weekend, David Moyes made sure his comments in the press put just about enough pressure on the ref to see Everton get away with a penalty Mike Reilly might otherwise have given.

So, seeing as the boss has resorted to those sort of tactics, it’s not really surprising that Everton players are trying their luck ahead of tonight’s game. John Terry was sent off against Everton in the reverse fixture this season, and realising it obviously helped them hold us to a 0-0 draw, Mikel Arteta has decided to point out to the press that refs should keep an eye on the Chelsea captain.

The Everton midfielder says “That they let the game flow is not a bad thing, but I think they have to be stricter with one shocking thing. With a challenge like the one Eduardo received or some of those that Terry makes, late tackles. They should put a stop to that.  That they let you play and be a bit more aggressive doesn’t seem a bad thing to me. That’s better than always stopping the game because I dive, I get up, I protest. I wouldn’t take that out of the game because the respect for players, be they local or foreign players, is very great and beautiful.”

Now far be it for me to get all precious about John Terry but hasn’t Arteta just admitted he dives whilst criticising a fellow professional?

  1. Seem like Arteta is just telling the truth!!!
But of course St John Terry would not do a bad challenge would he!!!!
Ok he might be about 10 mins late but thats ok he is the Captain of England so he would get off any red card the next day.
Interesting Match tonight would the 3 points point the way for the FA cup or not???? Or could we get another 4-4 with end to end stuff? No sorry that was the big club in Liverpool not the small one

  2. Inferiority complex from Sham methinks. Nonsense comments too - Terry was suspended against Liverpool and served the ban.

Arteta ? Small comments from a nothing player - who cares what he says

  3. I agree with RoyalTea. Sham, what the hell does “3 points point the way for the FA cup” mean?

  4. Sham - these 4-4’s for ‘the big club in Liverpool’ haven’t done them any favours have they? Out of the CL and falling further behind United, not a lot to shout about really.

And I can only second what’s already been said, at no point has it been suggested John Terry doesn’t throw in the odd dodgy tackle but the fact is, if the ref’s really did ignore it he wouldn’t have got sent off or served a ban would he? Arteta must be worried if he needs to resort to putting pressure on the ref before a ball has even been kicked - just like his boss did before they played United. Fortunately Hiddink leaves the games for on the pitch rather than in the press.

  5. i think that i am going to have to dumb down my comments as your readers need simple comment to read
then again this is a Chelsea site so DUMB is the way to go.
4-4 are end to end games with loads of goals WHAT FOOTBALL FANS WANT TO SEE not 0-0 bugger all games. I have enjoyed see a few 4-4 games may have harmed Liverpool chances but thats Liverpool problem to solve.

Terry got off or reducted from red cards this season again after FA looked at them in a new light !!
Or for the dumb fucks reading this Terry England Captain get off Again with English FA !!! but did not wash with European ref after pressure from your club

Is Arteta not out for the rest of this season ??? And he is a fine footballer rather him than Germany Bollox you have.

And the “3 points point the way to the FA ” well look like FA cup will not be a 4-4 game thats means CHEALSEA AND EVERTON WILL FUCKING BORE THE SHIT OUT Football fans in the FA cup final Spektral

As for the small club that was just a Everton wind up

  6. Sham - ‘Liverpool’s problem to solve’ - how can they solve winning nothing again this year? And as for the red card we’re talking about, Terry served a ban and yet you still have a problem with that. Coming from a club where the captain throws himself around and gets a bloody sainthood, its a bit rich tbh.

And why you would think the FA Cup will be anything like last night’s game is beyond me. Still, at least we’ll be in it. How many competitions are the press darlings still in this season btw?

  7. Terry got one red card but did not get as many Red cards has he would have got if he was playing for Hull. Thats the problem another big club player getting away with it

What club are you talking about “the captain throws him self around and gets a bloody sainthood” Or do you not like the St John Terry or agreening with me.

It’s going to be an all Blue final alright!!!
As for the “press darlings” thank god i do not get the red top papers which are more recyle toilet paper than Andrex produce !!!
With one for shit and the other full of shit!!!

I am looking forward to Barca v Chelsea now that should be a good game if you play like the last round. But to be fair the likes of Terry Henry, Messi and Eto are great to watch with their movement and skill.
