If there’s one thing worse than losing a game, it’s being cheated out of a game in the way we just have been.
I couldn’t give a shit who played the best football or who was the better side over two legs, one side was cheated out of a place in the final and it wasn’t Barcelona. I can’t even describe how pissed off I am after some of the outrageous decisions the ref made there tonight. And whilst I totally accept they shouldn’t have gone down to ten men in the second half, the refs decision to ‘even things out’ with the sending off, in no way gave us the same advantage he’d given Barca overall.
A minimum of three penalty decisions (possibly 4) could, and should, have gone our way and any one of those would have been enough to see Barca off. Not only had Michael Essien given us the lead – with an outstanding goal – we’d held that lead up to, and even after the 90th minute. Somehow they found 4 minutes to add on and as we all know, Iniesta put them level. Shit happens – Cech hadn’t been tested all night and the rest of the players were no doubt tired enough to have a momentary lapse.
But still, that shouldn’t have been the end of the matter tonight because despite missing (or ignoring) two penalty decisions in the first half, and a second in the last 45 minutes, the ref yet again proved he was determined not to give us a penalty no matter what happened, by ignoring another blatant handball right under his nose in the dying seconds. Then again, if Barca had pulled out machete’s on us in the box tonight, you still wouldn’t have seen any of our players placing the ball on the spot anyway.
So, final whistle and we gave the papers plenty to write about, whilst the cameramen must have been wanking themselves silly. Not only had Ballack looked all set to deck the ref after the handball, but the minute the final whistle went, it was a free for all.
To be honest, I usually have a real problem with our players losing control and giving the club bad press but not this time. Drogba’s in some serious shit after his reaction – and whilst I don’t doubt some of that anger would have been about his own inability to take the chances he had against Barca over the two legs – his rants at the camera about it being ‘a fucking disgrace’ couldn’t really be argued.
Apparently some of our players were suggesting uefa didn’t want an all English final again – not that that comes as any surprise – and whilst that’s a pretty serious allegation to make (and one that I’m sure will be laughed off by most outside Stamford Bridge), even Guus Hiddink found it hard to dispute when pressed on it after the game.
Complete bullshit to go out of such a big competition in that manner. Good luck to United because they’re gonna fucking need it against officialdom like that.

ref was definitely not biased, just inept. barca got some bad decision as well, they miss 2 fullbacks for the final and played with 10 man for some time and still managed to pass you off the park. they deserve credit for playing football on both leg and keep going. you shud watch the first leg again and see how decisions went your way, ballack shud have seen red and barca shud hav got a penalty. things even up. no point moaning when you loose. drogba is a twat, moaning, whingeing, faking injuries, missing chances, fucking disgrace swearing at the camera in the end and chelsea players surrounding the ref. sore losers the bunch of them.

If you honestly think that barca were the better side tonight you lost the plot. We outplayed barca all game and deserved to go through. Uefa needs to suspend the ref because this is an injustice to all football and especially us Chelsea fans. I can understand one make up call for the red card but not 4 missed penalty calls ridiculous…
I agree that Chelsea got a raw deal with no penalty on the hand ball, it probably (penalty didn’t guarantee a goal especially how Valdez was playing all night) cost you a chance to win the game.
That said, if none of the events in extra time transpired as they did, Barca fans would be screaming murder on the Abidal red card (clearly no contact) .Especially considering how well we played and passed with only 10 men, an 11th man could have been a complete reversal.
Also, you can not blame the outcome completely on the ref, Drogba missed an easy opportunity, and your club chose to pack your half of the field and stop attacking in order to deny Barca a goal…

I’ll be honest. I started the game cheering on Barca because I see them as less a threat as final opponents.
The referee was obviously clueless and I fully supported the way you set out your stall (just like we did against Barca last year). The real key moments of the game though were the following… drogba not finishing his open opportunity and hiddink substituting drogba for a defender against ten men… why why why I thought he was a great tactician?
The decisions that went against you were wrong and thats why I started cheering you on but then I switched again. Your players lack class and shamed themselves and the premier league.
Decisions don’t go your way all the time, that is football.
Andy Gray made one comment that for the champions league semi-final UEFA should insist on referees who deal with high profile matches on a regular basis…not a referee from the low profile Norwegian League.

the fact of the matter is that the referee did not allow chelsea to put the game to rest because he wouldnt give us a bloody penalty kick. they produced far more shots on net and opportunities than barca did and if it wasnt for the referee, chelsea would be heading to rome/the UCL finals for the 2nd straight year.
This is not the first time we have been cheated by “strange” refereeing decisions. In an age now where people are even demanding accountability of the police, surely referees, and those who appoint them should also be accountable, if not to the players, then how about to us, the paying customers. Maybe next season we, the fans should boycott the Champions League group matches, to show our disgust, and more importantly, to seek an inquiry into the refereeing of these matches. Our position as customers is the only power we have. Let’s use it!

i remember clearly an incident after abidal was sent off for what you might call “a clear cut foul” on anelka…… messi was slaloming past few of your defenders and right at the edge of the penalty area he was tripped, clear cut free kick and a booking for a chelsea player, neither given.
there is no such thing as “deserve” in football. you play till the end and try to beat your opponents. statistics are there to just sugarcoat your victory and defeat to make you look good and emphasize your performance. chelsea were not better than barca on the night. both teams had their positives and negatives, pretty even imo.
for once drogba and co came up against solid players like pique, yaya, alves etc who stood up toe to toe and outmuscle them and all that chelsea forwards could do is to roll around hoping for a penalty. against 10 man barca you shud have killed the game off, but still pissed around defending and let messi and co come at you. whose fault is that?

A little OTT but the points are valid. The Pique handball wasn’t ball to hand, no penalty shout at all but Chelsea had one in the first half (if it was a foul it was a pen, but a softy) and another one in the second half. Overall Chelsea defended like we’ve seen then do before and it normally would have gotten them through to the final. Barca were toothless once again, just like they were against us (United) last year.
All in all Chelsea were unlucky not to go through but I think they risked too much by not looking for that second one, especially after Barca went a man down. Like last year you can’t really complain about trying to hold onto a 1-0 lead and then conceding late in the game. It happens.

Anyone who has ever played football know for a fact AT LEAST one pk should have been given. If you do not agree then you dont know what you are talking about.
Molouda got fouled all the way up the wing by Alves. If you want to see the ref played the advantage and then spotted the ball based on one of the 1st fouls, then fine, but everyone saw Molouda go down IN the box and the last hack by Alves.
Drogba getting his shirt pulled from behind as he was off to goal - If you want to call this the same thing that happened to Henry in the 1st game… fine… but they are not the same. Henry had his bacl/side to the goal. Drogba was on his way to goal and got pulled from behind.

The Pique handball - You cant argue this one at all.. he hand changed the direction of the ball and who knows what Anelka would have done with it had he not touched the ball with his hand. How 40K plus people saw this and 2 refs did not is ridiculous.
The Eto’o handball. I can see this not being given but it did hit him in the bicep/tricep and from call in the past.. that is a handball.

Ballack should have been sent off (AWAY), he touched the ref more than he did the ball (HOME). The ref was very biased to BARCA so biased he sent Abidal off for no apparent reason.
I feel sorry for Essien , nobody has mentioned his wonder strike. A minute from the end Drogba was helped off the pitch by 2 physios barely able to walk. At the final whistle he ran like a greyhound, past stewards, police linesmen to congratulate the ref on the fine game he had. I was surprised he did not fall over once. From an Everton fan…Absolute disgrace. Out of the 4 I believe that Drogba getting pulled down and the Pique hand ball were stonewall penalties the other 2 were 75:25 in favour of Chelsea. If you check the UEFA website there is no mention of penalty claims in their match report and even the interviews of Ballack and Lampard have been edited to make it look like they were disappointed with the late goal and not the lack of penalties!!! UEFA have done themselves no favours here, whats with the gagging order? Why shouldn’t the ref have to explain himself? Laporta really pissed me off aswell saying that the team who tried to play football won and then in the same breath praise Iniesta and then their keeper for all the saves that kept them in the match…absolute joke

I felt bad for Chelsea, but their reaction turned any sympathy I had for them into anger. Yeah the ref was awful, but he gift wrapped that sending off when Chelsea were 1-0 up..also missed Malouda tripping Messi just on the box…and for Drogba to whine about anyone being unethical or disgraceful is outrageous, considering he is the biggest cheat in the game…I have never seen one player try to deceive referees so many times…I thought was Ronaldo was bad, but he is 100X worse…and though a lot of players dive or exaggerate, at least they get back up; everytime he dives, or is barely touched, he lays on the ground for a good two minutes, makes the doctors come out, etc…so this is karma for him being such a dishonest player

The fact of the matter is we created more chances and barcelona were lucky that their only shot on target went in. I cannot believe the ref did not give us at least 2 penalties. at the end of the day what we can take away is that we were the only team that Barca failed to score against, we have to be honest they are a better side, they just play well together, an almost complete team in all departments a team that has scored more than 100 goals this years fails to score against us! The 4 -4 with Liverpool was a classic open game, probably the best of the CL season, the same team played the best defense against the best offense in the world, whilst Barca week in week out play the same game the same plan. We didn’t win but we have shown our depth and with hopefully winning the FA cup, this season will not be all tears.
