Mourinho To Sign John Obi Mikel?

We’ve barely started counting down the days til the end of the season and already we’re hearing how Jose Mourinho plans to sign players from under our noses in the summer. Nothing new there then?

This summer apparently it’ll be our Nigerian midfielder. John Obi Mikel seemed to be an ever present in the absence of Michael Essien for the majority of the season although recently, in the bigger games, has lost out to his fit again team-mate.

Jose Mourinho signed Mikel originally, after a bit of argy-bargy with Lyon and Manchester United, and rumour has it he plans to take advantage of Chelsea holding out on contract negotiations until the end of the season, by trying to lure the 21 year old to Inter. Not only that, but reports in the Italian press suggest Mikel’s agent has already reached an agreement with the Serie A club and a bid around the 15million euro mark is imminent.

  1. He may not be THAT good .. but he is young ! only 21 - 22 .. part of the problem according to me - Whenever I see Mikel play (sometimes, very occasionaly, but definitely) it appears that he wants to do more than play the holding role - surge forward, shoot, spray through balls .. but can he play that role, ever?

or he is ideally suited for the ‘makelele position’?

also 15 million euro is surely too less?

  2. Yes Mikel before he came to Chelsea was known as an attacking midfield. We need to keep Mikel and all the rest of our young talent. We need to sell the players who are getting up there in age and are not playing up to par.

Also, I think that we should try to take advantage of Tevez’s situation and sign.

  3. The fact that he is just 21 years old for me is reason enough to keep him.

  4. I agree with Nick G, keep Mikel and sign Tevez.

  5. This is rubbish…If you were reading the same article I was reading from Chelsea D they called Mikel a forward…Any article who calls Mikel a forward surely can’t be trusted…

Don’t really know why Mourinho would want him anyway he’s got Muntari..

  6. @ Nick G and tRue_Blues

tevez, really? One article on the web called him the rich man’s craig bellamy .. what kind of role do you think tevez is best suited for? running at flick ons from a big centre forward (read drogba, if we are keeping him) or as a proper striker on his own ..

    @ ph0bolus

Muntari is an example of how Mourinho sometimes overrates players .. he was AWFUL against the mancs in the champions league ..

    @ everbody

    BENZEMA !!

  7. Keep mikel, now we have secured third spot give mikel a go as a playmaker which is what we signed him as, he has brilliant distribution skills and would probably get his name on the score sheet more oftern. In the summer we should benzema or tevez, a left sided midfielder (possibly silva) but i think the only signing we really have to make is hiddink or at least someone similar who is up to it
