One Staying, One Going At Chelsea

Florent Malouda is one Chelsea player who’s immediate future has now been settled despite speculation linking him elsewhere in previous months. The Chelsea winger has signed a two year contract extension, keeping him at Stamford Bridge until 2013 and says “I can reveal that I have signed a new two-year deal with Chelsea. I am staying. From now on, I have four years left on my contract. I know that every time the transfer window opens there are a lot of rumours and I hope in this one people will know what has happened.”
Personally, Malouda’s always been a player I’ve never been able to make my mind up about. In fact, when it comes to the Frenchman, I go all ‘Drogba’, changing my mind like the weather. But then that’s probably because Malouda’s form hasn’t been exactly consistent either.
I’d been quite excited at the prospect of replacing him with Yuri Zhirkov although the Russian has more or less ruled himself out now, so it looks as if our left wing is as you were for next season. Still, if Malouda continues in the form he finished last season with under caretaker manager Guus Hiddink, I won’t have any complaints about keeping him.
One player who surely won’t be staying though has to be Deco. The 31 year old playmaker has already made his feelings clear but just in case there was any misunderstanding has reiterated “I’m not happy at Chelsea. I know I have a contract but I want to leave. I would like to have this opportunity. I’ve worked with Scolari and (Frank) Rijkaard, but the best time of my career was with Mourinho. They were two and a half excellent years in which we won everything we could. We made history because, along with the national championship, we won the Champions League and UEFA Cup. Inter was already a strong team this season and doesn’t necessarily need a lot of players. With three or four new faces, it will be the strongest again and can retain the title and hopefully the Champions League.”
Let’s hope the club put him out of his misery before he gets the chance to whine again!

Looks like another messy summer of transfers. Deco and Carvalho can go. Sheva is a strange situation. I’m really interested in the right back situation. Why else would Chelsea be targeting Maicon after failing to land Johnson if Bosingwa isn’t going to be sold? I am hoping that Bosingwa is being used in a make-weight for Ribery. David Villa’s situation is quite interesting also.
Im a man city fan and cant see why sturridge would go to chelsea, hes a decent prospect thats all he is and doesnt have a chance of getting anywhere near chelseas bench never mind first team.I think hes a greedy little twat that will just waste away in Chelseas reserves and drop down the leagues 19 and 50 grand a week makes me puke
Sour grapes there from the Citeh fan, no puking when offering Robinho silly money, still, at least its all gone well for them with him eh?
