Are Chelsea Really Prepared To Let Mancienne Go?

Andrea Pirlo has been linked with us ever since Ancelotti arrived and it’s fair to say this isn’t a prospect TheChelseaBlog has welcomed with any enthusiasm.

The trouble is, the rumour aren’t going away and now the suggestion seems to be that if he does come to Chelsea, Pizarro and Mancienne will head in the opposite direction. Ok, so Pizarro wouldn’t be any great loss but why on earth would we consider letting Michael Mancienne go? Surely he’s exactly the sort of young player Chelsea should be starting to bring in on a more regular basis?

If we’re seriously going to let Mancienne go in order to bring a another over-30 in, then it’s hardly a sign of us moving forward is it?

  1. Mancienne would be going ON LOAN, since theirs no Cafu and Maldini! Kaladze is getting on… Its a great Idea because i dont see him jumping ahead of Ivanovic and Carvalho

  2. Good idea to let Mancienne go on loan. It’s great to say
give the young players a chance but if there not good enough, there’s no point. At the moment he’s prone to the odd error just like Glen Johnson,so let him improve
at Milan.Pirlo may be 30 but he’s a class act as he showed last Friday night. He’s like a snooker player he
sees the next move before he’s in posession and his
range of passing is superb.Speaking of young players
Gail Kakuta is the one we should all be excited about.
When he’ll make his senior debut i don’t know, but it’s
a day all Chelsea fans should look forward too.

  3. Mancienne will be a Loan is what the talk is; I agree with young players getting a chance to play and grow. Lampard did this while West Ham had him and it really benefited the player and teams.
Pirlo is a great player but I question why we try to strengthen what some would consider the best midfielder attack in the Prem with Lamps, Essian, Ballack, Cole etc.. After we have even signed a new potentially great midfielder or left back which ever way he is chosen to be used by Ancelotti.
I see the issue in the position more then the player we need a striker with greater pace and youth whether it is Pato or Villa or another we have been rumoured with.
30 is not to long on the tooth but it would be nice to see players we are looking for the long term when the club started this way it was about potential, some worked and some did not no it seems to be like Real and Man city now go for the name and the quick results.
Man. U as much as I do not like them seems to balance a big name with youth during signings and hate them or not you can not argue with their success

  4. Every report has made it clear the player has been offered on loan. So your article has no basis for being.

  5. Yeap..Mancienne is being reported going for ON LOAN…thus, by the time he’s get back to us he will be more than ready to fill up the 1st team on regular basis.

  6. i really dont no why we sre trying to go for pirlo one thing chelsea arent short off and thats midfeilders and plus he is 30+ what happend to us bying young players. if anelotti wants to buy one of his ex-players it should be pato. this is just absolutly ridiculos that were going for pirlo i dont even think hes that good and is no way better than lampard, essein or deco.

  7. I don’t have a problem with young players going out on loan if they’re not ready to get regular games for us and we already have plenty of back-up for their position. But Mancienne’s 21 now, and you have to wonder when exactly his chance will come.
In terms of him covering for injuries, its not as if he wouldnt get opportunities if JT and Carvalho’s seemingly increasing proneness to spells out injured are anything to go by – and the pair of them could certainly do with the odd rest or two during the course of a season anyway. Although as its been pointed out already, with both Ivanovic and Alex available, these opportunities may be limited. I guess it depends whether Ivanovic, Alex and Carvalho are all staying now.
I suppose I just can’t help thinking that whilst its preferable for Mancienne to get games rather than sit on a bench, I just think exposure in the PL would be more beneficial to him in the longer term than it would be in Serie A – that and the fact I hate seeing our talented youngsters benefiting sides like Milan!

  8. i still dont get the fixation with pirlo. sure, hes good but hes past his prime. and theres no need for a 39 something midfielder.

but i do like the fact the mancienne will be loan to ac milan, he’ll definitely play more games there than in chelsea this season.

  9. Chelsea needs Mancienne to cover Bosingwa, though Belleti and Ivanovic can play his role, but if they all will be injury, We won’t place Essien in center back like Grant ever done
