Roman Abramovich might be rumoured to be pursuing his interest in Franck Ribery but that doesn’t seem to be stopping him securing the services of the players he’s already got.

Joe Cole who’s lack of negotiations has recently seen him linked with Spurs again, has started talks on a new deal. Whilst Ashley Cole, who’s also been the subject of some summer speculation, is apparently to be offered somewhere in the region of £90,000 a week in an attempt to tie him to Stamford Bridge for a little longer than the two years left on his contract.

John Terry, as many of us suspected, is set to become Chelsea’s top earner on around £150,000 a week, which I’ve no doubt will have a bearing on the amounts both Didier Drogba and Nicolas Anelka – who are both said to be ready to sign new deals – ask for.

Let’s see how wide Roman’s prepared to open his wallet eh?
