Fifa Sanctions On Chelsea: What Next?!

I remember coming home the day Fifa announced our transfer window ban and listening to the reports on Sky Sports open-mouthed. Another thing I remember is reading the ticker-tape on the screen saying something about us not being able to recall our loan players this season either but since that doesn’t seem to have been mentioned since, I assumed Sky had got it wrong – not so!

With the media obviously going as far as they could with the ‘child slavery’ angle, the Sunday rags have finally picked up on Fifa telling us we can’t have any of our players back early if they’re on season-long loans. So, according to Fifa, Scott Sinclair won’t be coming back from Wigan any time soon and despite Michael Mancienne having an emergency-recall clause in his loan agreement, his return wouldn’t be a foregone conclusion either. Fortunately, since Franco Di Santo’s loan was only for half a season, Fifa will kindly allow us to have him back.

Great isn’t it? Fifa, who are so moralistic around contractual agreements and clubs not being ‘robbed’ of their players, won’t let us recall our own players from loan spells – irrespective of whether it’s been included in a contract or not – simply to show the footballing world how seriously they take contracts.

One of the geniuses at Fifa says “If it’s a season-long loan, it cannot be terminated in order to bring players back.” Nice one Einstein, care to explain the bit about clauses?

Anyway, Chelsea have 21 days to respond to the ban and whilst I won’t be holding my breath for a favourable decision, I will be waiting to see what Blatter & co plan to throw at us next.

  1. well said! What’s next?

  2. Fifa are such twats. one thing that i thought was good about the transfer ban is that we can use our young players that dont get played that much. but now that not going to happen as we arent allowed them back from loan. its just fifa trying to stop english clubs winning everything. and just using us as the club to punish and let the other english clubs learn.

  3. I think that FIFA action over the loans is childish BUT unlikely to impact on us. Our squad this season doesn’t need any more players except during the Afican Nations Cup. The biggest loss then will be Drogba up front and there is no player out on loan (Or anywhere else for tha matter) who will fill the gap and the loss of the two players who can anchor our diamond - Mikel and Essien - again no loanee can do that and a purchase in January for such a position would have been a wise one. The ban for buying players next summer will in my view really hinder the 2010 - 2011 season and that is the main damage they will do to us.

  4. we kindly beg FIFA very much to reduce this sanctions us [the blues] and also the english clubs should see that fifa is not their side anymore

  5. the blues are very sorry about what has happened so FIFA SHOULD FORGIVE US.

  6. Scotty is at wigan.Fifa can go jump.Blatter & Platini sat down and drew up a list on which club they hated most and which they knew the media or so called ‘neutrals’ wouldnt mind seeing punished, and guess who was on top.they know all the big clubs traffic youngsters but they needed to set a grand example, escpecially for epl.they knew the only ones who’ll condemn it was us blues fans.this is tyranny! Good talents are gonna be hounded after the world cup and we wont be at the races but we have gems in cobham.

  7. i’m trying to think of a word that means - corrupt, crooked, blind, unscrupulous, deceitful, power-mad, naive, singleminded… oh , wait!!! i think i have it! FIFA! and th little monkeys throwing their own mess around from on high, blatter & platini, seem to be hell bent on raising the bar when it comes to gross ignorance & stoopitidy ;)
