CL Reaction: Unhappy Ancelotti’s Got His Work Cut Out

Hardly surprising Carlo Ancelotti had the right hump after last night’s game considering that’s the second lot of dross he’s had to endure in a week. Just four days after losing to Wigan, Carlo Ancelotti stated “We got lucky.” Having just sat through an unconvincing performance against Group D underdogs Apoel Nicosia, the Chelsea boss ranted “I’m not satisfied. I wanted Chelsea to play better and to take more control, to play with courage. We have to change, for sure. In the first half we showed good application of the system and of the defensive duties I was looking for. We took good control in defensive positions. But the second half was totally different. We lost a lot of balls. We allowed Nicosia to get back into the game. They deserved to get a draw.”
The sad thing is, he’s absolutely right. The Cypriot side could well have got a draw against us last night, and with the Liverpool game just days away, Ancelotti says “We made a lot of mistakes and we have to play better. I have a lot of faith in this team and these players. I was a player for a lot of years myself, and I know that things don’t always go well. I’m not afraid but I’d like Chelsea to play better than we did.”
We’d struggle to play a lot worse to be fair!

Chelsea News 24/7

Interesting. What is most concerning for me isn’t that we look disjointed in attack, but that we don’t look disciplined in defence (as we did under both Jose and Hiddink). A few more displays like we’ve seen against Wigan and Nicosia and I’ll be worrying about Ancelotti’s ability to organise a successful defence.
We’ll need to improve on Sunday.
Get Lampard connecting passes once again, please. He gave away more loose balls against Wigan and Apoel than I can ever remember.
I think that getting deco back into the position behind the two forwards will help alot so lampard can go into one of the central midfield positions (right or left) that way he can help in the build up other then that i think that chelsea need to remind themselves this is the year they need to make it happen
