The Price Of England Friendlies Too High?

As if internationals aren’t a big enough pain, we then have international friendlies – and whilst it’s easy to point out our players weren’t subjected to what must have been an exhausting 90 minutes in the heat yesterday, that doesn’t mean England’s latest trip hasn’t cost us.

You see, not only did Frank Lampard end up with a thigh injury during an England training session, but according to yesterday’s press, the injury that sees us lose Frank Lampard for a minimum of three weeks could well have been contributed to by the cramped conditions on the seven hour flight to Qatar.

Now whilst I don’t necessarily believe that just because they’re Premier League players they should be treated like royalty or anything, bearing in mind the FA stood to pocket £400,000 from that game, you’d think it shouldn’t be beyond them to provide a decent flight. Apparently cost-cutting is a risk the FA is willing to take with these players though and Frank Lampard may well have been a victim of that.

Didn’t John Terry go out there without an injury too?
