Malouda: I’ve Never Complained

With Drogba, Essien, Kalou and Mikel all off on ACON duty, Florent Malouda is hoping he’ll get his fair share of the limelight – and not quite in the way the press wanted him to have it.

A couple of days ago, we heard from the press that Malouda was whingeing about the unfairness of it all at Chelsea and suggesting Frank Lampard gets far too much credit. Malouda was reported to have said of Lampard “It’s his position in the national team.  He plays like that in the England team, and we are in a World Cup year. But at a certain point, the status has to be in relation with the performances.”

He was also alleged to have said “Before the match against Birmingham, I talked to the coach to tell him about my frustration.  The frustration is above all for the big games. I’m ready to look elsewhere. Finding another club is not a problem. But the club has closed the door to any departure, whether it be in January or in June. The coach is counting on me. We’ll see from now until the end of the season.” However, Malouda flatly denied the stories, insisting “Nothing that you could read today came out of my mouth. I was really shocked and surprised when I came and we had a meeting at quarter-to-12 when I discovered my words.  My reaction was to go and talk with the manager and talk with Lamps and the meeting was clear. The rest I don’t want to talk about that because they (the press) did it on purpose and tried to put trouble in our team. I would say that is disgusting.”

So, with that cleared up Malouda is hoping to give Ancelotti something else to think about while his team-mates are away, stating “As I said to the coach, there are choices to be made and he told me I have to take my opportunity now.  That’s what I tried to do from the beginning of the season and I will try to do it until the end of the season.  You have to accept that and I’ve never complained. That’s the way it is when you are with a big team and Chelsea is one of the three biggest clubs in the world.  I’ve played in the big games, the Champions League final and the FA Cup final, so I’m here for them when the coach needs me.”

  1. strangely enough every chelsea managers since roman’s takeover has a tendency to overlook ‘certain’ players. jose w shevchenko n jo cole, grant who bought anelka n parked him in the bench, guus wont count for his short spell n now carlo on malouda.it happens in football but in malouda’s case, whether he said or not those words in dissent it sure wont change carlo’s mind.hell he even hv no guts to start the bright young lads let alone someone going into 30′s.so far we rode on luck as everytime we crumbled the other big boys followed suit, too.i’ll still say i dont like the way carlo is handling the kids they r not being fully nurtured at all.trust me the team sheet will be the same except for maybe sturridge will be included to start at hull.no new buying, no african stars, so when will it ever be the right time to use the kids?kakuta matic n sturridge i reckon r the future for us.but thats all they all will be. juz future. n a little while later through loans n impulsive sales, history. gutless carlo. what a shame.

  2. at least malouda has the gut to speak it out. now lets think about kakuta, matic, sturridge, borini, bruma + sam. who will ever listen to them? only sturridge starts against lowly watford. n carlo said ‘watford is a very good team’. didn’t i hear him say the same to almost every mid-table team? like west ham, fulham, birmingham…. where is the confidence? is this the man that is going to bring us CL glory? how does roman feel? as a football person listening to a club manager of chelsea unconvincingly praise watford? no risk-taking at all in carlo’s football? our team is fast aging n what r the odds of landing big players with the likes of MC n MU lurking? it’ll be sad to see them disappear 1 by 1. i was shock to see the back of carlton cole n ben sahar n now what? who else r we releasing? its epl mentality. if u dont use them, dump them. what a shame.

  3. I actually think that Malouda doesn’t have a case. He’s been on the field quite a bit this season. He hasn’t been spectacular nor has he been poor. Overall, he’s been in good form though, especially since he is the one and only natural winger in the squad right now. He is important to Carlo’s system as when he needs to bring in width to the formation, he automatically turns to Malouda on the left and possibly Anelka dropping more to the right or Joe Cole playing as a winger on the right. In fact, Malouda better just concentrate on his game and stop complaining as Zirkhov is also slowly but surely making a case to play on that left hand side. Ashley Cole is the best left back in the world so Zirkhov would be better used further up the pitch, which puts him in direct competition with Malouda. Based on his past 2 performaces, he also deserves a chance. As for the kids, I also wish I would see them more often on the pitch, (matic, kakuta, borini, sturridge, bruma). Watford was a great opportunity, but Carlo didn’t play them for their own good. The club was in desperate need for a convincing victory. Even our regular players were low in confidence, that puts extra pressure on everyone. These kids need to be brought in more comfortable games to take off the pressure a little off their shoulders. Keep in mind that at least under Carlo we see their names on the senior team squad. Before him, we didn’t even know their names.

  4. long as carlo keep saying every next team ‘is a very good team’ our kids will soon grow 4 legs as a bench. its ironic while paying so much respect to fulham, example, n then doing another act of disrespect by fielding a weaker 11,paolo on the right n ballack holding. 1-0 down at HT everything gone haywire n then frantically he replaced ivanovic who immediately produced a decent cross for drogba to head in. the tinkering rather than discipline rotation is baffling at times. put up the strongest 11 to start otherwise we’ll keep dropping points. MU n ars hv no choice due to injuries but chelsea? anyway we’ll be ok. to be champions u need some luck as well. i’m 80% sure we’ll be champs come may. or come what may.
