Ok, so that’s not exactly news but they really gave new meaning to the word today because stripping off their shirts after their win over Portsmouth this afternoon, Tevez, Ireland and De Jong were seen sporting ‘Team Bridge’ t-shirts.
I mean ffs what is this? A gameshow or what?
Bearing in mind Wayne Bridge has already issued a statement saying “The reports deal with matters which are of a deeply personal and private nature. My primary concern is the welfare of my son. Therefore, I intend to make no comment whatsoever either now or in the future about these reports and ask that my privacy is respected” does this trio of idiots really think advertising it Big Brother style in a game being watched by countless people up and down the country is a discreet way to show their support? Get a grip!
A point their manager also seems to miss because Mancini suggests “The players are very close to Wayne. It was a nice gesture.”

Dan – I’ll reiterate for those who clearly missed the previous comment. Nowhere on this blog has John Terry’s behaviour been supported. Even Chelsea supporters aren’t beyond accepting he’s completely out of order. But this isn’t about JT, its about Wayne Bridge and I cannot see for the life of me how anyone would seriously think tacky t-shirts emblazoned with a message of support relating to a sordid affair – pictures of which will undoubtedly end up splashed across the back pages – will ‘support’ Bridge in any way. Don’t see this as a “city” gesture myself. Only three players wore the shirts (Tevez, Ireland and De Jong). Perhaps this was 3 lads simply showing public support for a friend in need. This article centres on “class” and the apparant lack of it by the three City players. As such, the meaning of ‘class’ is the debate. For me, class is defined by the majority. Most will agree that JT shows ‘class’ on the football field but not off it. The majority of comments on here appear to back-up the players actions so I would say the players concerned, by their support for their colleague, showed ‘class’.

The title of this article – “Man City Sink To A New Low”, and the first line – “Oh dear, oh dear, Man City really are classless”, are what have really infuriated City fans.
Whether you think it’s right or not to wear T-shirts in support of a friend and colleague, you cannot judge an entire football club and fanbase on the actions of three players. It’s the same principle as saying Chesea sink to a new low and are all serial adulterers, money-grabbing abortionists etc..etc.. who incidentally have no class – oh dear oh dear.
Chelsea are not John Terry, thank God, neither are Man City the three T shirt wearers. The club did not get shirts printed up for the whole squad, it was an individual decision on the part of those who felt most strongly that WB needed a public show of support.
Having distanced Man City from the affair, I am proud our players chose to show solidarity behind WB, just as I’d expect Chelsea players to do the same if the boot was on the other foot.

In the greater scheme of things, while I don’t excuse JT from his actions, I think it’s fair to say it pales into insignificance when compared to many of the vile things footballers do that never reach the chuffing tabloids and these -frankly pathetic – fan pages where we get to gob off as though what we think actually matters.
We all love the art and joy of football, and following our teams loyally in possibly the best league in the world. I couldn’t care less what the overpaid numbnuts do in their spare time. It’s about the game, y’all. I think the media is the big ‘out of order’ factor here. I don’t expect huge-salaried dense boys to behave, so when they inevitably do something stupid, why can’t the media treat it a little differently, so we can at least fool our kids into thinking these players are great role models.
