Could Cole End Up A Shrewd Signing For United?

Around the start of the year TheChelseaBlog recalled a conversation with an opposition supporter about the possibility of Joe Cole leaving. Prior to that, with Cole’s repeated insistence he had no plans to play anywhere other than Chelsea, I’d always been quietly confident a deal would be sorted.

At the turn of the year though, with no deal done and the man himself looking off his game, the doubts started to creep in and despite putting up a decent enough argument to the contrary, for the first time I started to have real concerns that my favourite Chelsea player could end up at one of our main rivals if we weren’t careful.

That concern definitely seems to be one taking shape in the press right now, with recent reports linking the 28 year old with a summer move to United. And as much as I hate to even think about it, it would certainly be the sort of deal that would make perfect sense for SAF. With Ryan Giggs heading towards the end of his playing days, who better to fill his boots than an experienced, talented and creative midfielder who’d almost certainly get a new lease of life with a move like that – and all that on a free transfer?

Enough to make a Scot salivate really.

  1. thats what I also fear.rednose can get the best out of him.sign him on a new deal we cant let him leave on a free.

  2. That would be horrible, but no matter were Joe goes he’ll always be one of my favorites.People have been unfair to JC and some will be quick to call him traitor if he moves,I know that I won’t.
