Chelsea Ready To ‘Look After’ Torres?

I remember watching the World Cup final as Fernando Torres pulled up – and for the first time in his career, I remember thinking ‘Oh no!’

Not that I’ve ever had a soft spot for the Liverpool man, quite the opposite in fact, I’ve never been able to stand the sight of him in the Premier League but then that goes for anyone in a Liverpool shirt. No, it’s because I’d been clinging on to the idea of us signing him, so the minute I’d seen him clutch at his leg, I thought any hopes we had of that had just gone right out the window.

Not so according to the press because the suggestion seems to be that we could maybe use Torres injury to our advantage. You see tests in Spain have confirmed he has a torn thigh muscle and whereas Liverpool are said to be undecided whether to try and rush him back for the start of the new season or give him the time to get back to somewhere near fit, Chelsea would make it clear his fitness would be their priority.

Liverpool’s new head of sports science and medicine Peter Brukner has already said ‘The MRI scan confirmed a small tear. Fernando should be able to resume training within two to three weeks and be able to play again within three to four weeks’ suggesting Torres won’t be in for much rest and recuperation in the next couple of weeks. However, as we’ve already demonstrated with plenty of our players, we’re in no hurry to rush players back from injuries at the risk of doing them any further damage.

So, if we can get Torres on-side with that, all that’s left now is convincing Liverpool to sell him!
