Chelsea Keeping An Eye On Keeper?

We all know we’ve got a bit of a goalkeeper problem in terms of back-up for Petr Cech, so it’s good to hear reports that we’re still on the look out.

We were previously linked with Stoke’s Asmir Begovic although that came to nothing and clearly a keeper like Given, wants away from City because he doesn’t fancy a season on the bench, so if it’s a second keeper we’re looking for, we can forget someone of his quality as well.

So, according to the press yesterday, with Hilario and Turnball both a bit too dodgy to rely on in the event of an injury to Cech, and Rhys Taylor on loan at Crewe, Chelsea have got their eye on Polish goalkeeper Piotr Leciejewski. The 25-year-old, currently playing in Norway’s second division, has impressed since signing for Sogndal in 2008 and his chairman accepts a move away is likely, saying “What I can say is that Piotr has got an enormous potential. We know it’s a question of time before he will play on a bigger stage.”

How exactly that links him to Chelsea I’m not quite sure, but if he’s better than the back-up we’ve got, let’s hope there’s something in it.

  2. i was really hoping for shay given. he’s the only one dat can contest dat no1 spot with cech……

  3. Well, we don’t trust our own. If I recall, we have a Matej Delac, Jan Sebek, Rhys Taylor and we seem to be having a Keeper crisis. Hmmm, Well, I say, away with Hilario, Turnbull and one of Delac, Taylor and Sebek fight for the 2nd and 3rd keeper slots. Oh I forgot, Taylor is on loan, Delac is on loan too, that’s all we ever do, loan them out, and not give them a chance.

  4. Why not nip in and get Schwartzer from Fulham. He’s a damn site better than either Hilario or Turnbull!

  5. It showed last season how badly we need a backup if Cech gets hurt but I doubt we find anyone willing to go from a solid 1st team to backup

  6. Petr Cech was at his best when Cudicini was the backup keeper. Presently there is no good backup to push him. How about Matej Delac? I believev the 18 year old is a better option than the current pair.

  7. i think chelsea should start given there young once opportunitys 4 first team football like manu. look at taylor’look at di santo etc. What we do is loan 2 other clubs without given them opportunity in there own club is very very bad

  8. Turnbull will come good. Hes only made the one mistake in a friendly and has done well otherwise. I think he deserves a chance at least.

  9. Swapping hilario for this guy wud be a smart choice …

  10. Assuming he is better than hilario .. :)
