Ancelotti Gives Priority To Youth

Yes, here we are again. Another youth rant. But this time there is a lot more potential to the story.

You know how Arsenal always field young players in the Carling Cup? Well it seems that Ancelotti has decided to take a leaf out of Wenger’s book and do the same with Chelsea.

Over the last week, we have seen Kakuta, Mcheachran, Bruma and Van Aanholt all get some first team experience-most notably Mceachran’s first team debut. But we are yet to see a big impact from any of the youngsters. However Ancelotti has provided an opportunity for the younger players at Stamford Bridge to prove themselves and in doing so, we might just get a goal from one of them. At the moment, we are all wanting Kakuta, Mceachran and the likes to get played because at the back of our minds, we know that Drogba and Lampard are not going to be around forever.

So if there was ever a good time for an under 21 player to step up to the first team in style, this may be it. What’s more, Abramovich has stated recently that Chelsea’s big money move days are over and they will have to use money that is generated from the club rather than from his own pocket. Hmmm, I don’t see much problem with that at the moment, considering Ancelotti is content with the current squad and the youth facilities.

Look out for the Carling Cup game against Newcastle this week and be prepared for some less than household names to be representing us Blues.

  1. I think we should play sturridge and kalou up front and also to feature kakuta and mceachran in the middle, bruma and aanholt in defence. i think is vital that they play games, especially games like these

  2. and im talking about the carling cup of course

  3. carling cup third round against newcastle. maybe they are not what they once were. but they are certainly no push over, especially when they know that cup competition is the only real chance they can enter europa cup next season.

no doubt our youth players have tons of potential, but i still think they should only be introduce into the game once we have a comfortable lead.

  4. @ Kaiser: Im sure putting 3 or 4 youngsters in our squad would not affect the team greatly. Yossi and Yuri are sure starters for this one. So will Nico as he was rested during the weekend. I expect a lineup like this.

    Ferreira – Iva – Bruna – PVA
    Yossi – Ramires – Josh/Ess
    Nico – Danny – Kakuta

  5. chelsea must really consider buying unknown talent which is less expensive.the likes of hulk from porto, diego from wolfsburg can be brought to the team to form a balanced squad.

  6. I guess I am in the minority in wanting as MANY trophies as possible.

I am not saying that we should start everyone on the 1st team but I do not think we should start the 2nd/3rd teams across the board

  7. Ancelotti appears ready to blood some youngsters in the upcoming game against the Magpies in the Carling Cup. A likely starting eleven would be Turnbull, Ferriera, Bruna, Ivanovic, van Aanholt ,
Benayoun, Ramires, Zhirkov, Anelka, Sturridge, Kakuta.

Prediction: Chelsea 3 Newcastle Utd. 0
