Villas-Boas: We Never Underestimate Everton

Ahead of our game against Everton this weekend, Andre Villas-Boas suggests we won’t be as complacent as City were. Well ok, he doesn’t put it quite like that but he makes it clear he doesn’t see us going into it as if it’ll be a walk in the park.

With Roberto Mancini maybe not expecting Everton to make a game of it when they met – and coming unstuck – the Chelsea manager insists “We never underestimate Everton.  Our record at Goodison is not impressive. (Everton manager) David Moyes made the right buys in January. It’s fantastic to see Gibson playing more often as he is a great player.  Landon Donovan coming back. They made fantastic additions to make them even more difficult to play against.  They had good chances against Wigan to win (but drew 1-1).  We’ve drawn there (Wigan) as well. It’s not an easy place to go.”

And whilst we might have got a 3-1 win against them at the Bridge, Villas-Boas says “I think they have improved a lot from when we played them first.  They are always a solid team and can cause you problems plus the environment of Goodison Park.  The situation in the league for Everton is 11th but very close to eighth place.”
