CHELSEA v Brentford: FA Cup Preview

Venue: Stamford Bridge

Date: Sunday, 17 February

Kick-off: 12:00 GMT

In typical Chelsea style this season we’re lagging behind everyone else, so while they’re all playing for a place in the quarter finals of the FA Cup, we’re still trying to get into the fifth round for an already drawn away tie at Middlesbrough.  Still, it’s only Brentford so we should be ok right? Except that’s probably what most of us thought before they almost turned us over last month.

Maybe we’ll turn up this time….

After narrowly missing out on victory last time round, going into this game, Brentford manager Uwe Rosler says “The surprise factor has gone. We had the chance to beat them because they underestimated us the first time around, but they won’t do that again. They will take us more seriously this time around.”

For Chelsea, Oriol Romeu (knee) remains out long-term but the good news is David Luiz, Demba Ba, Victor Moses and John Mikel Obi are all available.

For Brentford, Farid El-Alagui (knee) and O’Connor (ankle) miss out but Rosler has no other injury concerns.

CHELSEA (Possible line-up): Cech; Azpilicueta, Luiz, Terry, Bertrand; Mikel, Ramires; Moses, Mata, Oscar; Ba.

BRENTFORD (Possible line-up): Moore; Craig, Dean, Logan, Hodson; Forshaw, Douglas, Diagouraga, Donaldson, Trotta; Forrester.

Brentford 2-2 Chelsea (27th January 2013)

Well, we’re the holders and unbeaten in 25 FA Cup games whilst Brentford are trying to qualify for the last 16 for the first time in seven seasons. Would anyone really put it past FSW to mess up yet another game that otherwise3 looks a formality on paper?
