West Ham v CHELSEA: Preview

Venue: Upton Park
Date: Saturday 24 October
Kick-off: 15:00 BST

We might have a decent record in these games but I’m not sure how much that stands for this season. We’re about as together as Russell Brand and Katy Perry and whilst we’ve made our second worst start to a Premier League season, West Ham have made their best.
So, whilst we’ve finally put together two clean sheets, we shouldn’t kid ourselves we’re out of trouble yet.

Going into today’s game, West Ham manager Slaven Bilic says “We have played some really good stuff, but we have to be more patient when we play at home. We have that patience away, and we scored goals at Arsenal, Manchester City and Liverpool at the right times. We are trying to approach the game in the same way, regardless of where we play.”
Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho meanwhile, says “The players were man enough to assume responsibility and to say even publicly some of them that they were feeling responsibilities in their individual poor start. But the team was always together. We’ve got two important results – three points in the Premier League and, against a direct rival for qualification in the Champions League [Dynamo Kiev], we got a point away. The mood improves with results and people are happy.”

For West Ham, Winston Reid (back) and Alex Song miss out, whilst Victor Moses is ineligible. Enner Valencia could make his first start of the season.
For Chelsea, Pedro, Remy and Branislav Ivanovic are all injured and Jose has a decision to make on Eden Hazard starting.

WEST HAM (Possible line up): Adrian; Cresswell, Collins, Tomkins, Jenkinson; Noble, Kouyate; Payet, Lanzini, Zarate; Sakho.
CHELSEA (Possible line-up): Begovic; Azpilicueta, Terry, Zouma, Rahman; Fabregas, Ramires; Willian, Oscar, Hazard; Costa.

West Ham 0-1 Chelsea (4th March 2015)

~ West Ham have won just one of their last 18 against Chelsea in the league
~ Chelsea haven’t conceded a goal against West Ham in five meetings.
~ West Ham are unbeaten in their last six league games
~ Only City have scored more than West Ham in the Premier League this season.
~ West Ham have won their two London derbies so far this season
~ Chelsea have only won one of their last five away games in the league

The last time I predicted we’d lose, we did, so I just won’t bother predicting it.
