CHELSEA v Norwich: Preview

Venue: Stamford Bridge
Date: Saturday, 21 November
Kick-off: 15:00 GMT

This is the first game for a while we can go into without having faced disappointment the previous week. Of course, that’s because we didn’t play last week but we’ll take our silver linings where we can this season. Whilst this time last season we hadn’t lost a game, we’ve lost 7 times so far this campaign and 3 in succession.
Bizarrely, this week we’re home to Norwich and any other season this would be considered a banker yet all we can do so far this season is sit and hope (or drink ourselves into oblivion so we remember very little of in years to come). Personally I’m just hoping a different set of players return from internationals than the lot we sent out there.

Going into today’s game, Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho says “I am happy with my players, I trust the players. I don’t need to clean the dressing room, like I heard was written somewhere. And I don’t need to ask the club to spend money in January. We put ourselves in a great situation being champions. We have to be again together in ourselves to put it in the right place. The situation is good in the squad so we really believe good things are coming for us.”
Norwich City manager Alex Neil meanwhile, says “I said this when I first came in that I won’t look at games in batches or people saying we have to pick up two points per game or get so many points from a group of fixtures; that is nonsense. Every game is big and now it’s Chelsea and that is our most important one.”

For Chelsea Branislav Ivanovic (hamstring) returns but Thibaut Courtois (knee), although back in training, is unlikely to feature.
For Norwich, Matt Jarvis (knee) misses out but Nathan Redmond (thigh) is expected to play and Russell Martin returns from a ban.

CHELSEA (Possible line-up): Begovic (GK), Azpilicueta, Cahill, Terry, Abdul Rahman, Matic, Ramires, Hazard, Willian, Pedro, Diego Costa
NORWICH (Possible line-up): Ruddy (GK), Whittaker, Martin, Bassong, Brady, Mbokani, Tettey, Mulumbu, Howson, Hoolahan, Jerome

Chelsea 0-0 Norwich (4th May 2014)

Chelsea: DLWLLL
Norwich: DLLLLW

~ Chelsea have lost three successive league games for the first time since Roman’s arrival
~ Chelsea’s 7 league defeats is the most Mourinho has ever suffered in a single season as a manager.
~ Chelsea have only kept two clean sheets in their 12 league games this season.
~ Chelsea have dropped a Premier League-high eight points from winning positions this season.
~ Norwich ended a six-game winless run with their 1-0 victory over Swansea last time out.
~ Norwich have not won an away game in the league since 15 August.
~ Norwich have conceded 15 away league goals
~ Norwich have only won one of the last 11 Premier League meetings

Norwich are rubbish away this season and we couldn’t buy a win so far. I wouldn’t expect 3 points either way.
