Scolari Tells Real Madrid Where To Go

With rumours circulating about a sudden increase in interest in Chelsea midfielder Michael Essien again, Luiz Felipe Scolari has made it clear the Ghanaian is going nowhere as far as Chelsea are concerned.

Mourinho’s Inter Milan have been interested in Essien since the summer and Sulley Muntari has expressed his desire to play with the Bison more recently. However, Scolari insists “Inter, AC Milan and Real Madrid all want Essien but he is injured and he is at Chelsea. If I stay for three years I don’t want him out, I want him to stay with me. This is because he is a very good player who can play in five positions very well. He is young and dedicated. He is our player and I think he is happy here.”

Chelsea have clearly missed Essien’s presence this season and although the date of a return from his cruciate knee ligament injury is still unclear, Scolari is hopeful it’ll be sooner rather than later, stating “Michael Essien is good news for me everyday. He is recovering quicker than I thought. He comes here at 10:30 in the morning and doesn’t go until four in the afternoon. He tries to come back early. It is good for us. He is a fantastic example for other players. I don’t want to put pressure on him but I think we will have good news sooner than we expected.”

And with Essien having signed an improved contract with Chelsea in the summer, I think the message to Inter, AC Milan and in particular Real Madrid is clear: “on your bikes”.
