Ben Sahar went on loan to De Graafschap earlier this month following an unsuccessful loan spell at Pompey.
Prior to his move to De Graafschap, the 19 year old voiced his frustrations about his treatment at Portsmouth. The Chelsea forward felt his lack of involvement was out of order given the lip-service Redknapp was reported to have made about giving him a chance. From Sahar’s point of view, he didn’t want to be regarded as a failure when he’d never been given the opportunity to prove himself at Pompey in the first place.
The good news for Sahar though, is that no sooner has he arrived at his new club, having been given the chance to make his mark, he managed it on his debut. De Graafschap hadn’t seen a goal in some 300 minutes and with only 13 goals in 18 games, it’s a bit of a battle to ensure Eredivisie survival. So, Sahar’s winner in De Graafschap’s first game back after the winter break must have gone some way towards the Israel international proving his point.
