Drogba Looking Forward To Man City ‘Test’

Half the country seems to have an opinion on whether or not our good start to the season is down to the ‘easy’ opposition so far, the other half are either rugby fans or cave dwellers, either way, it’s an argument we’ve had to face since the opening game of the season.

So, this weekend’s game against City and the subsequent game with Arsenal – particularly if we get results – should quieten that particular debate down and it’s a point not lost on Didier Drogba who says “I don’t think we have had an easy start. People say that because we won all our games, but those games were not easy. At Wigan we struggled in the first half but managed to turn it around. City will be a good test to see if we can deal with better opposition. After that it is Arsenal – another big one – so it’s a crucial period.”

Mind you, whilst wanting a win, Drogba clearly doesn’t see the games as the be-all-and-end-all for us, stating “It’s good that we have already got a four-point lead. It will give us a little advantage, but we have to win these games. We will come out to try and win. Let’s see what happens. We won every game against the big teams last year. It made the difference. When you play those teams, the most important thing is not to lose, and try to win the other games. Last year we won them, and that allowed us to make a few mistakes in other games. It’s true City were a problem for us last year – they beat us twice. They might be another problem for us this time, but if we win the league at the end, I don’t mind.”

Well, we managed it last year without too much damage but let’s beat them just to be on the safe side eh?
