Why it is only a minor blip for Chelsea

Chelsea were walking away with the title only a month ago but after a dismal November have slipped down to 2nd in the Premier League table. What’s going on?

The exit of Ray Wilkins looks to have influenced the team’s performances and results but there is no doubt this will be a minor blip. They have too much quality all over the field to continue with this poor form.

Injuries have certainly hit the Blues hard and the loss of John Terry has been a key factor in their poor defending. He is the leader they need him at the back to encourage and organise the players around him and you can tell there is a void left by his absence. Another player who has been out for some time is Frank Lampard. They need him back to score vital goals from midfield and support the strikers in
attack.

Anyone who writes off Chelsea now are stupid. They are second in the table and in the knockout stages of the Champions League. It’s not the end of the world. They have faced some teams that are in form after losing at home to Sunderland and only managing a draw against Newcastle but St James’ Park is a difficult place to go and pick up three points.

Carlo Ancelotti needs to inject more motivation and confidence in order to replicate the form they showed at the start of the campaign. They have a team full of world class players and can beat anyone in the league. When they are on song they strike fear into most Premier League sides and can cut open defences at a heartbeat with their dangerous attacking style. They possess the best strike force in the league with Didier Drogba, Nicolas Anelka and Florent Malouda. Not only do this trio increase the productivity of any Chelsea shirts deal, but they only minutes away from banging in the goals again.

There are reasons to be worried with the month they have experienced but I for one are sure they will bounce back and come strong over the hectic Christmas period.
All they need is players returning from injury, confidence and some luck and when these three come into place they will once again prove they are unstoppable which will be enough to claim another Premier League title.
