Something Drastic Needed?

torres-debut

We can all hum and haw about the end result versus Liverpool. And rightly so. After spending a “mere” £75m in the past week, a goal was at least expected for Roman’s investments. And what happened?

We conceded and scored zilch. Absolutely nothing.

Now, it is great to be positive and I like to think of my Chelsea views as relatively optimistic rather than negative but I honestly think Torres was a bit of a mistake. Luiz looked great, don’t get me wrong but he was still expensive. Yes, Torres has plenty time to adapt and flourish but short term, he may not work.

If I was wanting to improve team performances with my 0 years of management experience, I would probably have either stayed with the same players and try and get something or revamp completely. For example a few purchases of less value. Such as 10m younger players. Rather than the 75m splash out on two players. But, I have never been a huge fan of huge money transfers. Carroll’s transfer is ridiculous. In my opinion, David Villa is a much better player and he scores on the world stage. And he was 2m cheaper. Mindboggling.

However, enough of the rant. Things need to be improved. Shoving Torres into the starting lineup, days after purchasing him to play against his former club is slightly bemusing to say the least. Something more drastic needs to be done. Whether that is dropping some big players for a few games until they regain form or trying a different system remains to be seen.

In the meantime, keep the blue flag flying high.

Blue is the colour

TheChelseaBlog.org is an honest insight to the World of Chelsea FC. Not always pretty, sometimes rather cynical, but always realistic.
