A section of the Chelsea fans have expressed his delight after midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek was handed with a new long-term contract with the club.
The England international got the opportunity to secure a regular role under ex-boss Maurizio Sarri last term and he contributed 10 goals and five assists for the Blues before sustaining a season-ending Achilles injury.
A recent report from The Telegraph revealed that the Blues had agreed on a five-year deal with their club-graduate and the same has now been made official by the west London side following Frank Lampard’s arrival as the new head coach.
Here are some of the reactions from the fans on Twitter…

For most of the previous campaign, Loftus-Cheek found himself out-of-contention for a starting berth in the Premier League, but his impressive showing in the Europa League meant that he was able to start five of the club’s final seven top-flight games.
Despite this, his season ended on a sour note after an Achilles tendon rupture during a charity game in the United States, and he subsequently missed the Europa League final against Arsenal, which the Blues won by a comfortable 4-1 scoreline.
The 23-year-old is expected to miss the first half of the 2019/2020 season as a result of the Achilles injury, but he nonetheless has a good future ahead of him with the Blues, given his tendency to find the net with tireless runs from the centre of the park.
Meanwhile, Loftus-Cheek’s contract renewal could soon be followed by an extension for Callum Hudson-Odoi. As per Goal.com, the 18-year-old is close to penning a new long-term deal with the Blues after being convinced by Lampard that he can play an important role in the future.
