Some Chelsea supporters have hailed the performance of midfielder N’Golo Kante during the recent UEFA Super Cup clash against Liverpool in Istanbul.
The France international was initially considered as doubtful for the clash after picking up a minor injury in the season opener, but he managed to play through the entire game including added extra-time.
While the whole team produced an improved performance from the curtain-raiser at Old Trafford, Kante undoubtedly stood out in the centre of the park with a tireless performance.
Kante was hugely influential on both ends of the field and he was particularly a threat on the opposition end where he was able to break-up play to launch counter-attacks for the team.
Also a MASSIVE round of applause for Kante.
Man just came back from injury and bossed the entire game for 120 minutes. He's our entire backbone and has massively improved his game

Despite the defeat, Ngolo Kante is the best midfielder of his generation since he burst into the scene as a professional player. A guy who can tackle, intercept, dribble, give accurate long balls and incisive passes, Score crucial goals. He's just lovely to watch. God bless u.

How good was Kante last night? For someone that’s carrying an injury he was amazing. Against the Champions league winners & a stadium full of Liverpool fans. Did not deserve to end up on the losing side. #CFC

Ultimately, the result did not go in the Blues’ favour with a penalty shoot-out defeat following a 2-2 draw, but there are plenty of positives to carry forward with the players providing a strong response from the previous game.
Elsewhere, it is relishing to see Kante return to his best form and he was at times unplayable against the Reds, where he was offered the freedom to make the difference in the final third.
Chelsea’s immediate focus will switch to the Premier League where they are scheduled to entertain Leicester City at Stamford Bridge on Sunday afternoon.
It won’t be a surprise, if Lampard sticks with the same starting lineup from Wednesday, considering they were impressive together and just need to find the cohesion in the defensive scheme of things.
