‘Unreal’, ‘Special talent’, some Chelsea fans are delighted with 25-year-old’s form under Lampard

A selection of Chelsea supporters have been impressed with the performances of midfielder Mateo Kovacic under the tutelage of manager Frank Lampard this season.

The Croatian was not a favourite among the large section of the fans during the temporary stint last season and his permanent move from Real Madrid during the summer was met with a mixed reaction.

With the start of the new season, Kovacic has been in-and-out of the starting lineup, but he has generally been effective with his displays from the centre of the park, where he has been offered the freedom to push forward.

The end product has been something which has been regularly questioned, but during the recent league trip to Norwich City, Kovacic came up with a sublime long-range pass assist for Tammy Abraham’s winner.

As such, a number of Blues supporters have been left impressed with the midfielder’s efforts and a few of them have taken to Twitter to appreciate the Croatian’s showing during the opening weeks of the season.

Twitter Reactions:

N’Golo Kante missed the recent 3-2 triumph at Norwich with an ankle sprain and the Frenchman may not return to the fray until after the international break with Lampard unlikely to take a risk with the fitness of the World Cup winner.

In this case, Kovacic seems certain to accompany Jorginho in the centre of the park when the Blues entertain Sheffield United at Stamford Bridge this weekend. The Croatian may still have to drop to the bench when Kante returns to the mix unless Lampard opts to play with a three-man central midfield.
