Some Chelsea fans have been left frustrated with the performance of club-captain Cesar Azpilicueta during the recent Premier League clash against Sheffield United which ended in a 2-2 draw.
The Spain international has not experienced the best of starts to the current campaign and his poor run of form continued against the Blades as he was partly responsible for the goals conceded.
At half time, the Blues were in a comfortable position with a 2-0 lead through a brace from Tammy Abraham but they could not seal the result after conceding twice in the second period.
In the lead up to both goals, Azpilicueta was beaten by a Blades player on the right side of the Blues defence before the ball was delivered into the box and this has certainly angered a few supporters.
Someone throw Azpilicueta a lifeline! Reece James needed urgently, I hope he's fit soon 😔

This has nothing to do with overrating Reece James or underrating him. He simply can't do any worse than Azpilicueta. It's reached that stage.

Cesar Azpilicueta has been involved in 89% of Chelsea's conceded goals this season. Decline.
Reece James will be a welcomed addition to the starting XI once fit.

It's very sad Azpilicueta is now so bad, that seeing him start a match makes me sick.. He used to be my fave defender in Epl.. Chelsea do something.

Cesar Azpilicueta is finished. Please, who knows when Reece is returning? Christensen / Rudiger is our best defensive partnership, period. Lamps must take the blame, trusting Tomori didn't go well today, Zouma will never be a ball playing defender plus he's very unstable & rash

Both goals coming from Azpilicueta's side, it's honestly too easy for any opposition. It's time to step down man, this is embarrassing.

Azpilicueta has been culpable for more than half of the Blues’ goals conceded during the opening phase of the campaign and in the recent stalemate against Sheffield, he was dispossessed (20 times) more than any player, as per Squawka.
There have been calls for young graduate Reece James to replace the Spaniard, once he returns to full fitness following an ankle injury but that remains a question mark, considering Azpilicueta is regarded as the leader of the side.
With the draw against Chris Wilder’s men, the west London giants have managed just five points from the opening four Premier League matches while failing to keep a single clean sheet.
Following the international break, they have league encounters against Wolves and Liverpool respectively and hopefully, the return of Antonio Rudiger after injury can improve the defensive performances.
