‘The Premier League ain’t ready’, some Chelsea fans are delighted with defender’s display vs Grimsby Town

A section of the Chelsea supporters have expressed their delight after watching Reece James make a spectacular debut for the club against Grimsby Town in the League Cup third round.

The west London giants registered their first home win under new boss Frank Lampard on Wednesday night and James was one of the many standout performers as the club registered a comfortable 7-1 win.

The Blues graduate was right into the thick of the action from the beginning of the game and he provided the assist for Michy Batshuayi, who scored from close-range in the seventh minute.

Following the interval, James undoubtedly came up with the highlight of the Cup tie with a precise cross for Kurt Zouma’s goal and he capped off the brilliant debut with a sublime curling effort to find the net.

James’ performance has certainly caught the attention of the majority of the Blues faithful and some of them have taken to Twitter to express their opinion over the teenager’s performance.

The Blues fans have called for the introduction of James to the first-team fold since last month where skipper Cesar Azpilicueta was culpable for a number of defensive errors contributing to opposition goals.

While Grimsby do not possess the quality of a Premier League outfit, James has certainly made a strong impression with a stellar debut and time will tell whether he can break into the top-flight mix.

Chelsea are scheduled to face Brighton & Hove Albion at Stamford Bridge in Saturday’s league encounter. Azpilicueta will most likely feature on the right side of the defence.
