Two young England stars coming in, and Frenchman to leave? – Chelsea transfer rumours round up

International football is the main thing on the menu for fans of the beautiful game this week. Leaving club football news dominated by transfer rumours with an international twist.

Chelsea are still waiting for their appeal to a two-window transfer embargo to he heard, with the day edging closer.

Next Wednesday Blues’ fans will get a clearer idea of whether the club will be able to spend during the forthcoming January transfer window.

For now, the rumour mill will continue, this week being no different as rumours circulated on two potential signings, and one departure.

Jadon Sancho is one the most highly rated English youngsters around. This week it was reported that the Borussia Dortmund man looked up to three players, including Frank Lampard and Didier Drogba for inspiration when he was a youngster. The Londoner was speaking to The Independent,

Sancho said:

“Ronaldinho was the main guy I used to watch on YouTube,” he said. “But I liked Frank Lampard quite a lot and Didier Drogba when they were playing for Chelsea. They were the three players I looked up to”.

Signing the 19-year-old would leave Chelsea with an array of young options. Callum Hudson-Odoi, and Christian Pulisic would fight it out with him for a place in the starting XI. However, Willian and Pedro aren’t getting any younger, so a move makes perfect sense to swell the ranks.

Another Englishman linked is Leicester City fullback Ben Chilwell. The 22-year-old made his mark on Thursday night with a hat-trick of assists in England’s 7-0 victory against Montenegro.

The left-back was awarded the man of the match award for an overall fine performance. After the game, he posted a photo on social media site Instagram, that was liked by Frank Lampard. Reported by the Metro, that interaction has fueled rumours The Blues boss is interested in bringing Chilwell to Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea do need an upgrade on Emerson and Marcos Alonso. The Foxes man fits the bill perfectly for Lampard’s revolution –  Young, hungry and top quality.

Olivier Giroud has had a frustrating start to the season. Kept out by the form of Tammy Abraham, the Frenchman has barely featured this campaign.

According to The Daily Mail, former Chelsea boss, Antonio Conte wants to reunite with the 33-year-old at Inter Milan. Conte was in charge at Stamford Bridge when Giroud joined The Blues from Arsenal in January 2018. The report suggests a fee of £6m. Not a bad amount considering Chelsea paid £18m for the Frenchman who was primarily signed as a stop-gap.
